Hi everyone

This is my fed up post about my current dumb endocrinologist and not ordering all my Thyroid test.

So, I had a synthyroid reduction about 7 weeks ago, I went from 100mcg synthyroid and 15mcg Cytomel to 88mcg synthyroid and 15mcg Cytomel and Im doing "ok" but i've been struggling a bit with the dose change I get upset much easier and I battle everyday with fatigue and my weight doesnt help at all.

Today I went for my lab work that she ordered 7 weeks ago (she left for baby leave right after) I asked she confirmed she ordered everything I had done last time (tsh,Ft4,Ft3) well she only ordered tsh and Ft4 and I did not know this until today .....I'm fed up with inept medical care and doctors that lie just to get rid of you. I'm in the market for new endo outside my military treatment facility....I'm just done with liars and unqualified monsters that would rather create another issue then preventing issues...tired of fighting a losing battle.

Frustrated and fed up

Certainly when Gps ask for FT3 to be test d (even FT4 sometimes after original diagnosis) it is the labs that refuse to test- don't know whether this is creeping into specialist meds too? So you were given a reduction of 'meds' without any results known? Go down getting your own private tests like many forum members, then you have better control.

It's not just the UK where there's cr@ppy thyroid care then, sorry you're experiencing it too.

SeasideSusie, its an epidemic across the globe by reading others posts here and it's just awful that doctors seem to care so little for the patients with thyroid issues.

The problem is that most of us are on our own. Read up as much as you can on this subject, ask questions on this forum. I know it is difficult, it was completely foreign to me to learn biological stuff but once I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and it's subsequent "maintenance" I somehow learned it. You have to get your own blood tests and make decisions on your own dosage of the medicine you think works best. It is very scary I know, but you will get better faster if you DIY.

I see that you are in the US. Get your blood tests through True Health Labs and ask for a Complete Thyroid Panel. All of your problems will be illuminated in those results. Get a consultation with Dr Brady Hurst, that's what I did and he set me off on the right track. You will need your own doc for your prescriptions but the dose will depend upon how your feel. As you increase your dose you must also monitor your body temperature, pulse rate, and blood pressure. If any of these get out of range, drop back to the previous dose because this will mean that you are very close to your perfect dose.

Yes, endocrinologists and GPs are undereducated on this topic and it is up to us to educate ourselves in order to have good health. Keep trying, don't give up, and remember that you will probably be on your own, like most of us are. You can regain your good and normal health. Just keep studying.

Dr.Brady Hurst ? Where in the U.S. is he located? Its funny you mentioned body temp I have done that for a while and my average body temp is 97.4 and many occasions has been lower over the course of past of 17 months.

I did find another Endo this will be my 4th and he is not part of the U.S. Military medical system.

Yes, I am on my 3rd Endo. don't worry about changing Endos, keep changing until you find a good one, well, let's say one who will not kill you or keep you feeling ill for the rest of your life, that's the bar for a good Endo.

OK, Brady Hurst is the top man at True Health Labs, sometimes his consultations are free and sometimes they are $50, I am not sure how you get a free one, I have had two free and one $50 and I can't remember what I did differently - I only ever order the Thyroid panel. So, what you do is call or email the person who sends you the purchase order and tell her you would like a consultation, it's over the phone and he will talk for a long time if you wish but 15 minutes if he has other calls stacked up.

But do read up on what all of the levels should be - actually this site is as informative as any books and correct levels are quoted I would say daily.
