Hi guys this is the third time I’ve written this 😂
I’ve recently been diagnosed with hashimotos and I’m struggling a bit I’m male 42.
I’ve been feeling so bad for about 8 weeks symptoms are......
Tinnitus
Eye floaters
Pins and needles in hands
Tingling in my body
Weakness
Fatigue
No energy
No concentration
Memory is pants
Tiredness
Insomnia/ broken sleep
Internal tremors
Shakes
Burning feet
Dry itchy skin
Either to warm or cold
Broken nails
No libedo
No appetite
Can’t be bothered with anything
Irritated
Blurred vision
Pressure/pulling under left rib
Bloating
Constipation/loose stools
Excessive wind
Joint/muscle pain
Joints clicking/cracking
I could go on......
My blood tests are.....
Tsh 11.4 (0.35-5.00)
T4 11.5 (9.0-21.0)
B12 274 (200-883)
Folate 4.5 (3.1-20.0)
Ferritin 523(15-300)
I’m being tested for celiacs and pernicious anemia tomorrow cause I think especially b12 maybe adding to my problem. I’m also booked in for a ultrasound next week and I’ve been referred to a gastro and a rheumatologist.
My question is could all these symptoms be down to hashimotos or do you think I’m right to think my b12 is low?
Also I’ve just changed doctors so we had a look back at my blood results over the last 15 years when I’ve been ill for weeks and my thyroid has always been above 5.0 my folate always below 5.0 my b12 was always lower 200s and my ferritin above 500 any ideas what this points to..have I always had hashimotos and a b12 deficiency it would explain my periods of illness throughout these years and the foggy tiredness aches and pains I’ve always had and thought was normal or does this point to another autoimmune disease????

Hi I’m not sure what the answer is but just wanted to say keep going with the referrals and keep pushing for answers. It’s a long haul with waiting for appointments but you will get there. Just wanted to give you some support 🤓
I would say that the burning feet could be down to the low B12 - and maybe even some symptoms you haven't really noticed yet. It is too low, and you do need to be tested for PA, and you do need B12 shots, because low B12 is very serious.
But, the rest is more than likely down to hypo/Hashi's. Your TSH is much too high, you are overtly hypo. Have you been prescribed any levo yet?
Your ferritin, on the other hand, is too high. Is your doctor investigating that?
You mustn't be too impatient about getting answers. There's not a permanent staff waiting for a question to come in. People log in and out as they have the time, and you posted your question around the time most people were seeing to the evening meal/eating/dealing with their families. A lot of people won't even see this post until tomorrow. So, no panicking!
Yeah I’ve been on 50 dose for 2 weeks. I have some inflammation in my bowel so my doctor thinks it might be the reason my ferritin is so high but as I said looking back 7/8 years my ferritin was always 500+ and my tsh was always over 5.0 and my folate alway under 5 and my b12 in the 200s haven’t a clue what this means tho.
I think that might be going a bit far, but it does explain why you feel bad. And, it does mean it will take you longer to recover than someone who was diagnosed early on. But, if you get all your ducks in a row, there's no reason why you shouldn't feel good again.
Who knows but I do know it’s been this high for years and my tsh has been high b12 and folate been low I found this out by looking back at previous blood results from 7/8 years ago with the doctor 🤔🤔
