Have you been diagnosed with thyroid problems, are you taking any 'meds'? If not have you got symptoms that have made you post here for advice? Have you had a thyroid autoimmune antibody test?

I got really ill through vitamin B12 and D deficiency last year and posted on here. I had blood tests which showed my TSH was at 3.48 - 0.34-5.60 mu/L.

I'm still symptomatic- constipation, lack of sex drive, hissing in my left ear, strange feeling in my throat, strange smells and metallic taste, severe rhinitis, strange fluttering sensation, tingling finger tips, dry throat.

I asked the GP to test again but she'd only do the TFT and Cholesterol, she says she'll test my B12 in September.

I posted the results for interpretation, I'm no expert but they don't look too bad to me so I maybe barking up the wrong tree.

Yes, as you say don't look bad. TSH possibly bit elevated ( has it been lower on previous test?). Even or despite, being hypothyroid for 12 plus years I never know what symptoms are due to this or something else- a year ago I lost my sense of smell completely for 5 months...no doctor (ENT or Gp ) suggested it was yet another symptoms of undermedication, but since found out it could have been! You have not had a FT3 test...might be worth thinking about to check what T4 you actually do make is being converted to active T3, but you sound like it would have to be done privately eg Medichecks or Blue Horizon labs. Any Hashimoto's test ever done?

I don't know if i've been tested for Hashinoto's disease to be honest although I don't think so. I think i'm going to get that Thyroid 11 test done by Blue Horizons, would that tell me do you think?

I'm not right by a long chalk and I was hoping I had thyroid problems as at least I'd know what my problem is. Just been up the gym with my missus and I'm just so dizzy today. Don't feel too bad in the morning but as soon as I have a cup of tea my nose starts going all dry and stuffy and it gets really uncomfortable. I did ask my GP to do the T3 but she wasn't having that.

High cholesterol is typical when hypothyroid

Are you still on B12 injections and vitamin D supplements?

Are you diagnosed as having Pernicious Anaemia or just low B12. As you have B12 injections do you also supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex?

Have you had vitamin D retested and are you still supplementing

Personally I would get full private testing.

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies.

Plus very important to retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

I'm not supplementing B12 at the moment but I am taking a few D tablets. I think the B12 problem came about with me starting an exercise programme about 15 months ago. I'd just put too much weight on so started a calorie controlled diet and exercise but I was taking Omeprazole and I reckon I didn't need it. I think the PPI's along with the diet and exercise brought about the B12 problem. I'm off the PPI's now. How would a test for Hashi's be referenced on a blood test? I'll have a look at my report which originally showed the B12 and D problem. I've tried uploading the results but for some reason it won't upload.

The GP won't test my B12 until September, don't know why as I've just had another TFT and she could have done it then couldn't she? I had the jabs at the start of February. I think the thyroid 11 by Blue Horizons may be the next port of call even if it just rules out Thyroid probelems at least I can start looking elsewhere.

I've also got some b12 and fit D sprays waiting to be used but I want to get re tested again before I start using them. Apart from the small D tablets I take I also take a good multi vitamin from Natures Best along with an enzyme tablet called Bromelain.

Generally on here multivitamins aren't recommended. Too little of what we do need and stuff we don't want.

For example if it contains iodine and you have Hashimoto's, that's not a good idea

drknews.com/iodine-and-hash...

Would recommend full private testing.

Yes omeprazole significantly lowers lots of vitamins, especially B12 and magnesium. Majority of hypothyroid patients have low stomach acid, not high acid.

Low stomach acid is possibly more misdiagnosed than Hashimoto's

Second most common food intolerance with low thyroid is dairy. You said you feel odd after cup of tea. Something to try to asses.
