Gluten 'hangover' recovery time

Two days ago went out to eat and broke my gluten-free diet BIG time. Today I feel awful-physically and mentally. Endo just raised my levo dose also last week so this might be adding to my self-inflicted misery. When am I going to feel better from this really bad gluten-filled day? I feel really stupid and physically bad. Lesson learned. Thanks irina

I was “glutened” Sunday or Monday not quite sure but suffered for it Tuesday night and yesterday. Still feeling a few symptoms today but improved so least I know I can recover after a couple of days.

Feeling your pain!

When it happens to me I usually have a rough couple of days and sometimes the effects can last up to a week. Not fun, is it?

in reply toJazzw

No-not fun. A real teaching moment!

Always found camomile tea helps when I've been glutened - seems to soothe everything.

Thanks. Will have some. Cammomile and pepperment are my 2 staple herbal teas.

I've heard activated charcoal is good to help people recover after being glutened - it helps indigestion symptoms.

The one time I was glutened it took a couple of days to recover, similar to others. It’s annoying but at least it’s not too long.

I remember reading that it takes between 3 months to a year for the gut to recover from gluten exposure and that is why you cannot be a bit gluten free just like you cannot be a bit pregnant 8-) It is actually a case of all or nothing with gluten.

I get it. The spirit is willing but the body is weak.😕

Hey Irina. I hope you are getting over your gluten 'hangover '. It's really unpleasant when you come into contact with it again. I'm sensitive to it now that I've been GF a few months. Cooper27 mentioned charcoal as being able to help, I'd read that somewhere too. Take care 😊
