Hyperthyroidism?

Hello, I’m new to this forum and looking for some advice.

I have been having a lot of symptoms since giving birth to my son 18 months ago, tiredness, memory/concentration problems, tingling in face, headaches, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, tearfulness and more. This week my heart rate shot up, I could feel it thudding throughout my whole body, it stayed like this for over a day. I went to gp who has given me beta blockers which are helping. My tsh has been consistently low for about 2 years (currently 0.05) but t3 and t4 in normal range.

My question is does this sound like hyperthyroidism even with normal t3/t4? I am going back to gp tomorrow and really want to get to the bottom of why I am feeling so bad! Thank you for reading!

What exactly do you mean by 'normal' FT4 and T3? Do you have the numbers and the ranges? Best to give all the numbers so we can see exactly what you're talking about. Otherwise, we'd just be guessing. :)

Hi, thank you for your reply, sorry yes the results were serum free t4 16.5 pmol/L (10-20), serum t3 2.0 nmol/L (0.9-2.5). The serum tsh was 0.05 miu/L (0.2-4).

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3

plus important to test TPO and TG thyroid antibodies for Hashimoto's (hypothyroid with hyperthyroid swings - known as flares)

Or TSI or TRab antibodies for Graves - hyperthyroid

Plus very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting.

This gives highest TSH and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
