The trouble is also Sam022, the powers that be, only test TSH levels and rarely T3. So to get a prescription, you would have to see a Endo in the NHS and they would have to test your T4 and T3 levels before prescribing. It is a very sore subject about the T3 medication subject at the moment, not only for the people already prescribed but any new patients needing it.
Sam, before taking the step of adding T3 you need to have TSH, T4 , T3 and the supporting vitamins and minerals tested. You will find more on this if you use the search link beside your avatar at the top of the page...earlier posts and comments relating to your query are a huge source of information.
You give no details of any diagnosis or medication so offering advice is difficult. Start another post giving any results you have and then you will receive appropriate responses from the knowledgeable people here.
The whole T3 issue is madness, the NHS can work miracles, but T3.... We here have discovered that answer the hard way!
I clearly don't know your situation but you've found the right place to get reliable advice and support. I can vouch for that!
Hi. I have been given names of some suppliers of T3 from abroad, reasonable prices, no prescription, via post. Am just about to try one of them myself. I can let you have their details if you like. I have to resort to this following battles with my NHS doctors surgery now they are stopping my T3. I haven't the energy to keep fighting.
Hi Machupa, that would be amazing, I’m facing a battle with my GP (I have changed GPS recently and have the same issue) I don’t know what to do and thinking of going to Greece but If I can find someone online that would save me the trip. Please can you PM me. Thanks
You would be well advised to do as the others have said, and get your FT3 tested before taking T3. If you do not need it, it could do you more harm than good.
And you cannot get T3 from Greece, anymore, without a prescription.
Going to Greece might be a waste. T3 is produced by govt labs there (why can't the NHS do that?) and are only a euro a box, but the supply has really dried up. Nowadays (or at least last Sept when I was there) you can only get one box at a time from pharmacies, and often they have none at all. Cue it becoming prescription only there quite soon. But I only went and got T3 after was prescribed by an NHS endo and then my GP refused to follow through on it. I now get Turkish T3 by post.
Hi . I have just ordered some from Greece, and got an email saying it has been posted. The situation in UK is rediculous. I was prescribed by endo and have done well on a combination of T3 and T4 for around 15 years. My GP will no longer prescribe T3 and I'm sick of all the heated discussions with them, so I will just buy it myself. Please could you let me know the link for buying T3 from Turkey, just in case it does become prescription in Greece? Many thanks
