Sleep apnoea home test

Has anyone used the Hope2Sleep home test where you rent the kit for 1-3 nights? I'm tempted to do it as I doubt I'll get a sleep study arranged by my GP. Symptoms are snoring, fatigue, never refreshed after sleep, waking during the night to go to the toilet, no libido, poor memory. Could be anything but worth a test.

Having a full thyroid test and an SST for my low cortisol but I hear these can all be linked.

How accurate is the home test does anyone know?

I can't help you, but I would also be interested to hear of other people's experiences. I have obstructive apnoea and need some form of home test, and like you, I've not been able to get NHS help.

My GP seems loath to refer, yet there wasn't a problem getting a sleep study. Perhaps because I mentioned the Epworth sleepiness score, and a student observer was present. Best of luck!

Thank you!

Hope2 sleep is a brilliant charity set up by someone who has sleep apnoea, Ive had a lot of help & support from them so I have no doubt that the home test is good. However if you are found to have sleep apnoea then you will need to get a NHS referral to get a machine. I have sleep apnoea & was referred by my GP to our local sleep clinic. I was stopping breathing 72 times an hour! I now use a CPAP machine - it's my comfort blanket!

Hi, this discussion came up on my newsfeed. I'm Kath Hope who founded the Hope2Sleep Charity (thank you for your kind comments Hidden too). The prediagnostic screening test we provide is usually hired by people whose GP's are resisting referring people to their local sleep clinic, which saddens us to hear this and especially when it's so common in people with hypothyroidism, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and fibromyalgia etc. However, when GP's are faced with the evidence from our report then they do, usually willingly, refer people. It's a very popular service we run so there is often a waiting list and we constantly raise funds to purchase new equipment to help speed up the process.

Hope this helps.
