Hello, I’m looking to do an at-home private blood test for my daughter who is 6yo. Which of the providers allow children to be tested and do I have to inform them in advance or just buy the test and send in? I don’t want to buy something for them to refuse on submission due to her DOB.
Thanks

I am confident the first link is okay dealing with those under 18, but not so confident with the second link, although both sites are run by Blue Horizon Medicals. It will be worth checking with the company directly.
You can get a discount on the price of 10% or 30% depending on what is ordered. Again, I'm not confident about the second link - it might not allow for discounts, but it would be worth investigating.
We are not able to provide our private pathology service for children/minors (under the age of 18) via our Spire Pathology Service. Please email us to check availability of the services we offer in your area, if you are unsure.
I also checked the T & Cs for the first link and can't find any mention of age limits at all.
I don't know. I agree it is confusing if companies don't make their own rules clear. Before buying any tests I would contact BH and ask for their rules on testing children.
So does that mean I can or I can’t do the finger prick test?
Do you think your 6 year old would be happy to do a fingerprick test? Or would it be better for her to have phlebotomy?
BH definitely did used to do tests for under 18s but only they can confirm if they still do as it's no longer on their website. To be on the safe side you should contact them. Let us know what they say, it will be useful information for other members with children.
As Humanbean says, Blue Horizon will do under 18s and I don't know of any other companies that do. It will be in their Ts and Cs if you want to check out any others.
As for informing them that she is 6 years old then definitely yes so that they know when the test is processed whether they should apply a different reference range for any of the tests.
Thank you both. I couldn’t see anything in Blue Horizons T&Cs that say they allow under 18 though? I don’t want to spend the money, send it in with her DOB and for them to refuse it. Are you definite?!! Has anyone else with young children used this? Thank you!
Hello, I have had a reply from Blue Horizon and can confirm that they do allow Under 18s to use their finger prick service and it is at the discretion of the parent. Hope this is helpful to others! Thanks
