I was Diagnosed with Carpal tunnel a few months back, Not having op just leaving it as heard the op doesnt always work so dont want to go through pain for nothing plus cant afford to not drive if it was operated on..
This weekend I have had several of my finger tips go white, freezing cold and really hurt takes a while to go back to normal seems warming them up is trick to get them normal , The photos on internet and with the symptoms look like Raynauds!
This has happened 3 times over the weekend so wasnt just a one off, once when cutting bushes back, mowing the lawn and once when i got something out the freezer, it is really painful and takes a while to get the blood circulation back into finger goes a bit blue and feels like finger tip is going to fall off.
Are these 2 conditions related what causes it ?
Has anyone else had this? and is it Hypothyroid related or something else?
Could it be low B12 and should they give me B12 as with sciatica, pins and needles in leg, shin ,hands and feet, Carpal Tunnel and now Raynauds these are neurological symptoms aren't they ? So with b12 of 378 low end of range should I get B12 injections as my vision also goes blurry at times?
I have the GP on Thursday about my sex hormones so I must try to remember to tell her about it..
Just think you are getting symtom free on T3 and then get something else thrown at me, is it curable ?

You can supplement your own B12 - Jarrow Methylcobalamin B12 5000mcg lozenges from Amazon. Keep under the tongue until dissolved. Also take a GOOD B Complex to keep all the B's in balance and to provide your body with B9/folate/folic Acid ....
I do not think you will be granted a B12 jab at the level you are unless you test positive for PA.
How is your FT3 level ? and your VitD ? sorry have not had time to read all your posts !
I was tested & diagnosed with carpal tunnel & my hands got blotchy colored from time to time. This I have had for years, but a odd thing happened. When I was switched from Synthroid to Tirosint (at same dose in hopes of improving absorption) it went away. I loose weight on Tirosint (gain it on Synthroid) & think this (fluid) loss is what has resolved the carpal tunnel.
I am still working on getting a complete set of labs to post (this has turned into quite a project) so I can't say what is going on with B-12 etc.
I had carpal Tunnel years ago but didn't know what it was then but was very under medicated and full of fluid, it went away for a while but now again a lot of fluid retention I now have T3 and its come back so has the fluid retention, so yes the fluid could be doing it,
I am not losing weight on T3 I am bloating out on it , but was on Levothyroxine as well so could be that still bloating me out.
frightened if I say much they will take T3 away and I do feel much better on it I
I had the Carpal tunnel test which wasn't very nice , they electricuted my fingers and it came back positive. I had already told them I do not want operation so don't know why they even tested it
I don't want the steroid injections in wrists either as had steroid injections in my shoulder which it took weeks to work then only lasted a few weeks , so I must metabolise it out too quickly,
I had botox once that only lasted a week so do not think my body likes foreign things put into it.
I was fitted with "wrist supports" to wear at night. These alievated the pain that regularly occurred after 3:00 a.m. if I woke up early. I have read Synthroid would be at it's lowest level then (please correct me if I am wrong). Some work colleagues wore wrist supports to work all day. I was shown some simple exercises to do & was able to do them at work even. I purchased a book devoted to carpal tunnel exercises at the time as a backup.
I never had carpal tunnel at all while I was going to a "Alexander Technique" practitioner earlier. This really helps reduce tension in your shoulder area that negativity affects your entire body.
Reynaud's is a primarily a circulatory problem, caused by spasms in your blood vessels.
The exact causes and how to stop it isn't understood, so the chances are that it may be a symptom caused by a range of potential underlying problems.
Possible that B12 deficiency could be amongst the underlying conditions but so could a number of other issues.
Carpal Tunnel is a neurological problem - nerves being constricted when the pass through a small collar of bone and cartillege in your wrists. I've managed carpal tunnel for years through awareness of wrist posture. Mine was also aggravated by water retention during the menstral cycle.
It can be a result of B12 deficiency and or folate deficiency as both are involved in maintaining the insulating lining around nerve cells making it more likely that nerve signals will be disrupted by the constriction.
There is a similar effect that can happen in the ankle/foot - called tarsal tunnel.
I went to Gps today showed her the photos and she confirmed it is Raynaud's and isnt much the do for it, she said My B12 was ok it was 700, but i think I have no active B12 , so I am going to start supplementing see if that helps me feel better , ,
I thought if you had neurological problems they would give B12 injections, I also have sciatica and numbness down leg , but the gps dont seem to think this is a problem..I asked her if I could have B12 she said we will look further after we have sorted things out as my sex hormones are a bit low what ever that means, so sent for some liver blood tests as well, she upped my estrogen HRT as that was low, .
at least this Gp is looking into a bit more than the GP I normally see so thats something
with levels of 700 it is extremely unlikely that B12 is the problem. Unfortunately the symptoms of B12 deficiency overlap with a large number of other conditions including thyroid vitamin D deficiency, folate deficiency, diabetes ..... the list goes on and on.
hope that sorting out the hormones resolves things
