TSH 1.18 and T4 12.1 that’s what’s writtten on paper but have been told I have an under active thyroid at 8.3, although within the range of 8 to 20 ?However is low and suggest I go on thyroxine?
Any advice or thought.... I am going through menopause and struggling with HRT patches not absorbing. Sweats, hot flushes, low mood and anxiety

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances too, especially gluten. So it's important to get antibodies tested.
No, it's not a lot to go on. A TSH of 1.18 is fine, but if it was 8, that's hypo. And, if your TSH has gone from 8 to 1.18, you need your antibodies tested.
I can't say anything about the FT4 without knowing the range.
Never take your doctor's word for nutrients being 'OK'. He wouldn't know if they were or they weren't! Get the numbers - results and ranges.
OK is not a number. You needed actual numbers and the lab ranges for your results. Never believe anyone who says "fine" or "OK" (it usually isn't), you need to know and it is your right to have your results
