Omega 3 anyone?

I have dry eye particularly dry cornea, for couple of years. Also bletheritis. I use drops 3-4 hourly. I know dry eyes can be worse post meno ( that’s me) and hypo. Has anyone used omega 3 with good results? Is it ok to take with hypo ie does it have iodine contents?

Please advise thanks

Hi, I find Igennus Veg EPA capsules (not the 'chewables') very good (2 daily), they certainly help my itching dry skin. They contain a perfect balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6, with vitamin E. I have had dry eye and blepharitis but they settled. I gather blepharitis can be due to blocked glands in the eyelids. I clean daily with a cotton bud with boiled water on, around the lower eyelash line and inner corner of my eyes (as my opthamologist advised.) This really helps too. I found eyedrops made my eyes sting and worse off. Hope this helps!

Eye-drops that contain preservative are well known to cause discomfort. Even if you tolerate them for a while, a lot of people become sensitized.

I used to use ViscoTears single dose units as they are preservative-free (the bottles contain preservative).

Hi Summerlove

I suffer with dry eyes and blepharitis too.

I'm diagnosed sjogrens syndrome (as well as autoimmune hypothyroid), which causes very dry eyes and more!

Consultant advice was Seabuckthorn Omega product from Holland and Barrett. Very good product helps a lot. Optician advised blephasol lotion. Fantastic product soothes, bathes and cleans eye area.

My husband also bought me the microwave eye mask. So soothing, plus no choice but to lay down and rest whilst the heat works its magic! Lol.

Hope you get some relief soon.

Thank you so much for reply. I did buy a mask too but hadn’t been using it, but blethiritis has flared so need to go back to it.

Oh yes, you do, it will help.

You could also check out BSSA British Sjogrens Syndrome Association. Check out the symptoms. I was hypothyroid patient for 25 years, taking levothyroxine ok, then got ill, got additional diagnosis.

Oh the joy of autoimmunity!

I also use viscotears single dose and have managed to reduce doses since following consultant and optician advice.
