Heart palpitations and exhaustion.

I am having quite severe heart palpitations. I have seen my doc and I will be having labs done shortly, as well as a cortisol/saliva test. I am also completely exhausted. I posted a few days ago, but without my blood work. I take 45 mg of NDT and have for 6 mths. I stopped taking meds for 2 days recently , wondering if I am taking to much. These are my lab results after being on NDT for 6 months, however, I have not been tested since Sept. My iron, b12, d3 etc are all good. My doctor really feels the palpitations are from adrenal exhaustion. I also have a numb hand, which I use to get prior to iron ivs when I was anemic. I am celiac, and gluten free for 15 years. I eat an autoimmune paleo diet now. Completely organic. I have never been able to overcome exhaustion. My past cortisol tests looked normal. Thank you for any insight. I have never taken any other thyroid medication. I am in Canada.

You're under-medicated. Your FT3 isn't even mid-range. Not surprised you're exhausted. You're on a very, very low dose.

I agree with greygoose.

I'm also curious about your vitamin D, ferritin/iron, vitamin B12 and folate. Do you have any results and reference ranges for these?

B12 is 1177. >150

Ferritin is 162.3 40-200 ( this was a few weeks after 6 weekly ivs. I am super curious to see if it held)

Both after treatment. For some reason they did not retest my d3, but I take 10,000 a day.

I'm not sure of folate either, but I also take a folate from my naturopathic dr.

I am waiting for the window in my cycle, to do blood tests and saliva test, which will be next wed. Looking forward to a review.

Thank you for your help :)

Thank you. I will keep taking meds then, until I can get everything reviewed, rather then self-medicating my situation :)

Well, I don't see what else you can do, except increase your NDT. Although you could fine-tune your nutrient supplementation :

a) are you taking a B complex with the vit B12?

b) are you taking vit K2 with your vit D3?

c) have you tried taking magnesium or zinc? They are both co-factors of vit D3, and might help with the fatigue. :)

Magnesium is highly recommended for heart palpitations. Start with a large dose. I've just heard lately that the worst form of mag. ( oxide) may be preferred over the best form, citrate or glycinate, because the actual elemental magnesium is a very small part of the tablet. So take oxide with ascorbic acid for better absorption.

A common dose for NDT it two grains and you are not even at one grain. so you possibly needed a raise three months ago.

I was worried originally that I was taking to much NDT but once I read the comments I bumped up to 2 this morning. I'm not sure if it's possible but I already feel a bit better. I do take magnesium regularly. Usually bis-glycine. 400 mg day. And use Epson salts daily in a bath. Tonight I took 2 magnesium oxide for the first time ever. Interesting that you mention that. Also I have had palpitations but nothing like I was even yesterday. I'm not sure if the NDT is already kicking in. Thank you so much for taking the time to write me :)

Years ago I took one or two calcium/magnesium (500 mg) at bedtime and it was a noticeable help with restless legs. Minerals are so important and with low acid we may not be metabolizing the ones we think we are getting.

The T3 probably kicked in but I hope you didn't increase too quickly. Sometimes slow increments are best.
