Evening everyone,

I am sick & tired of being sick & tired 😔 to cut a very long story short, been having an absolute nightmare with my doctors surgery the last few months & cannot even be bothered explaining. Is it even worth complaining to the practice manager (who hasn’t even bothered ringing me back, it’s been 2 wks)???

I just had my recent results back after feeling so low, I knew my thyroid levels weren’t right:

TSH level 2.75 (0.30-4.40)

Serum free T4. 10.1 (9.0-19.1)

I know Tsh is too high for me (will ask for meds upped maybe?) & t4 too low so how do I explain this to Gp- I know he will say T4 is within range, but I want to be armed with an answer to make him ‘hear me’.

Also going through the mill & waiting to see the hospital regarding high antibodies (lupus) been on the waiting list since Jan & just found out it’s a 38 wk wait!!!!!!!!! My symptoms are getting worse & all point to lupus, is it worth going for a private consultation??

Just had these results: Full Blood count, these are the ones that stood out...

Serum C reactive protein level: 12mg/L <5 “HIGH”. (This was highlighted in bold)

Serum albumin: 36h/L (35-50)

white blood cell count:

Neutrophil 6.4 (1.7-7.5)

Lymphocytes 1.7. (1.0-4.5)

Oh and of course, my results were read out as all normal!!!! I will be phoning them back 1st thing in the morning... Thank you 😊

So difficult situation. That TSH would be too high for me and the T4 too low too.

One thing I have tried was presenting GP with all my symptoms and not mentioning thyroid at all, just consulting him as a medical ‘expert’ and asking him to help. Although I knew it was thyroid it was just sometimes easier to pretend I didn’t, or that I hadn’t thought of that. Then he was able to consider how many treatments he was going to have to provide and how long that would take, and allowed him chance to have a ‘lightbulb moment’ and suggest thyroid / thyroid dose increase!

It sometimes worked! I would never accept antidepressants or diagnosis of depression though - that’s their default easy way out. Sometimes achieved a ‘trial’ increase in dose which if successful would enable me to thank GP for his expertise and he could be proud! So win win situation.

Good luck to you, it’s bad enough having a thyroid problem without other health problems too and having to play the GP game.

Can see from your previous posts you have Hashimoto's and already strictly gluten and soy free

Yes your TSH is too high and FT4 too low

Official NHS guidelines saying TSH should be between 0.2 and 2.0 when on Levothyroxine

(Many of us need TSH nearer 0.2 than 2.0 to feel well)

See box

Thyroxine replacement in primary hypothyroidism

pathology.leedsth.nhs.uk/pa...

Dr Toft, past president of the British Thyroid Association and leading endocrinologist, states in Pulse Magazine,

"The appropriate dose of levothyroxine is that which restores euthyroidism and serum TSH to the lower part of the reference range - 0.2-0.5mU/l.

In this case, free thyroxine is likely to be in the upper part of its reference range or even slightly elevated – 18-22pmol/l.

Most patients will feel well in that circumstance. But some need a higher dose of levothyroxine to suppress serum TSH and then the serum-free T4 concentration will be elevated at around 24-28pmol/l.

This 'exogenous subclinical hyperthyroidism' is not dangerous as long as serum T3 is unequivocally normal – that is, serum total around T3 1.7nmol/l (reference range 1.0-2.2nmol/l)."

You can obtain a copy of the articles from Thyroid UK email print it and highlight question 6 to show your doctor

You could ask for trial dose increase. Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 checked recently.

Thanks slowdragon, I tend to feel a lot more energetic of course when it’s a lot lower! Hence the reason for me asking for them to be tested along with b12 & iron etc.....obviously Doctor didn’t tick for these (of course, why would he listen)

Thanks for the information, I’ve picked my results up 2day so will be asking for an increase in the morning, it’s just so draining all the time honestly, everything is such a battle:((

Thanks again, much appreciated xxx

Awww Thankyou, will have a look at that book xx it just seems like you said, everyone goes through this crap far too much!! I hope things will start looking up for you soon xx unfortunately I was diagnosed nearly 10 years ago & there always seems to be issues & 1 thing after another.

Spoke to my doc this morning, she wants to see me Monday morning for more bloods & all my vitamins, b12 etc but was reluctant to up my thyroid as she said she would have to consult an endocrinologist (not sure how true this is) before she does anything as my levels were in optimal ranges..... but I feel like shit! She also said my ‘high’ serum C level was not bad really as some can go into the hundreds but she is going to retest just to see if it keeps rising x Good luck & Thankyou xx

Lets face it these doctors are keeping us sick and thyroid replacement therapy is giving us loads of extra symptoms like we don't already have our bag full. I do think your wasting your time like many people on this forum. They know how to make us well and they choose to have us sick and I'm with you I'm sick and tired of there stupid nonsense lies. I'm also sick to death of there rubbish medicine, what joke these idiots are. My only hope is that they are on there own medicine one day to know how it feels.

I totally agree, it’s so frustrating honestly & like I said, a constant battle, let’s hope I as well as everyone else get some answers soon, have doctors & bloods again in the morning!

Would love to see doctors on their own medication 🤔🤔🤔 Good luck with everything xxx
