My hemoglobine count keeps going down and I have to have transfusions every so often. I’m missing half of my thyroid so am hypo and take thyroxine 125....I also suffer from high platelets but take medicine to try and control them. Doctor says he has no idea what is causing the low blood cells. Marrow biopsie found all ok. Have been reading about ferritin. Would this help I wonder. Is there also a connection between low hemoglobines and the thyroid....am looking for answers or advice. Thanks

Hypo..low blood count and high platelets
Hi Jana, just seen your message. Obviously you know that iron levels must be kept to the optimum and also vitamin C. I take solgar gentle iron as I find it is an excellent supplement. As for T4 only, which is what you are taking I would suggest adding some T3 under supervision. Also have you had a saliva test done for your adrenals, extremely important as you will not be able to convert the T4 to the active T3 hormone unless you have good adrenal reserve. I have a book coming out soon and hopefully that will help you understand more.
I really want to know if my thyroid problem is connected to my low globulins? The platelet problem I’ve had for about 10 years but for some reason my blood problem has just appeared. The hematologist has no answer!! Am now at my wits end....
