My hands and arms are starting to swell pretty much the entire day. All of a sudden for no reason they are swollen. So much so the veins in.my hands are pumping. All my vitamins are fine. Besides tsh high and 3 and 4 being in the mid low.range. the only thing off is my liver gamma.gt level which is slightly elevated. I miss the old me. I truly do.

So if TSH is high and FT4 and FT3 are low you are under medicated
Can you add actual results and ranges
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies. Plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. I
Essential to test thyroid antibodies, FT3 at same time as FT4, plus vitamins
Private tests are available
thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, and T3 12 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's
If you have Hashimoto's are you on strictly gluten free diet?
I have posted them before. Yes i have slightly raised antibodies. Yes i do not eat gluten. Gluten isnt the issue and my symptoms are getting worse rather that better. I am waiting to see new gp as they are not givin or diagnosing me with anyhing (old gps)
Are you on Levothyroxine? If so your a TSH was too high
Official NHS guidelines saying TSH should be between 0.2 and 2.0 when on Levothyroxine
(Many of us need TSH nearer 0.2 than 2.0 to feel well)

What are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12?
All those vitamins are excellent above the limits top end of range i even did the urine test for b12 to be sure. All came back good. No i am on no medication. The old gp i jus left simply said retest. No treatment.
If your hands and legs are swelling, has your GP checked for other causes? Heart problems for example? Have all other causes been ruled out?
Nope they havent. Thats why i have moved to new gp. I see them on Wednesday. Old ones didnt listen to me.
I have hypo symtoms alot of them. Swelling. Massive hairloss thinning everywhere constipation. Freling cold low body temp. Shorter periods. Bruising all over legs. Fatigue. Woke up this morning because could feel tigtness and swelling in my hand. I was sleepung on my back. Hands and arms across my chest. So wasnt a case of me sleeping on my arms and causing it to swell.
Before you see the new doctor look on the Thyroid Uk site, they run this forum. There is a list to print out with many thyroid symptoms and I'm assuming many that your previous doctor wasn't familiar with. Annotate it and give it to your new doctor on Wednesday. Please let us know how you get on. Better to start a new thread though then or it will not be easy to spot.
Will do thanks for advice. Old dr surgery didnt give a crap. Didnt care in anyway shape or form. Ignorant and incompetent. Tons of symptoms and .1 from the top of the tsh range and they say retest 6 months. Sick of it 26 months of.this
Swelling in the extremities is a sign of a significant thyroid problem. Please get checked ASAP

What is myxedema?
Myxedema is another term for severely advanced hypothyroidism. This is a condition that occurs when your body doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone. The thyroid is a small gland that sits right at the front of your neck. It releases hormones that help your body regulate energy and control a wide variety of functions. Myxedema is the result of having undiagnosed or untreated severe hypothyroidism.
The term “myxedema” can be used to mean severely advanced hypothyroidism. But it’s also used to describe skin changes in someone with severely advanced hypothyroidism. The classic skin changes are:
swelling of your face, which can include your lips, eyelids, and tongue
swelling and thickening of skin anywhere on your body, especially in your lower legs
Severely advanced hypothyroidism can lead to what is called a myxedema crisis, a medical emergency. While the term “myxedema coma” used to describe this life-threatening situation, “myxedema crisis” has replaced it, as a comatose state is no longer required to diagnose the condition.
