DEC-2017

VITAMIN D TOTAL 60.1 (50 - 75 SUBOPTIMAL)

Confirmed vit D deficient, was taking 800IU from Oct 2013 but a friend suggested I take 3000IU so I did this from Mar 2014 and below result in May 2014 was 59.2 (50 - 75 SUBOPTIMAL)

Increased to 6000IU and in Oct 2014 vit D was 73 (50 - 75 SUBOPTIMAL)

Same dose in May 2015 it was 53.3 (50 - 75 SUBOPTIMAL)

Same dose in Jan 2016 it was 72 (50 - 75 SUBOPTIMAL)

Same dose in Jan 2017 it was 73 (50 - 75 SUBOPTIMAL)

Bought 300IU with K2-MK7 in Sep 2017 and level was 60.1 (50 - 75 SUBOPTIMAL) in Dec 2017

How long do levels take to rise and what dose would suit me please? Thanks

Cirsty,

>75 is replete and 100-150 is optimal. I'd supplement 6,000iu for 6-8 weeks and then reduce to 3,000iu and retest in June.

I raised my severely deficient level of 15nmol/L to 202 in 2.5 months.

You appear to have Hashi's so your absorption is probably compromised by gut problems.

The Hashi's should be addressed by adopting a strict gluten free diet and supplementing with selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily to help reduce the antibodies.

SlowDragon has information and links about healing the gut and addressing absorption problems.

Are you using an oral spray? That is recommended deduction for Hashi's patients for best absorption as it bypasses the stomach.

With your current level of 60.1 I would suggest you take 6000iu daily - BetterYou do a 3000iu spray so double dose. Retest after 3 months.

The recommended level is 100-150nmol/L according to the Vit D Council. When you have reached that level reduce to a maintenance dose which you have to find by trial and error. It may be 3000iu daily, maybe more or less, so we need to retest twice a year to keep within the recommended range.

When taking D3 there are important Cofactor that are needed

vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-mk7 directs calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissue where it can be deposited and cause problems.

Magnesium helps our bodies to use D3. You need to choose the best form to suit you naturalnews.com/046401_magn...

D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day and 4 hours away from thyroid meds. Magnesium is calming so is best taken in the evening, 4 hours away from thyroid meds.

You are struggling with low vitamin levels due to T3 being stopped

Gluten intolerance is extremely common and changing to strictly gluten free diet can also help vitamin levels improve
