Test results

I have again asked for a print out of my test results although receptionist said they were okay "no action". I thought a print out were an actual copy of them. Instead the doctor typed on a piece of paper TSH and not t4 or t3 after two weeks of waiting tsh was 1.8. This time I asked again and the same thing happened. But surely a typed message is not a print out of actual results. Why are they so unwilling to give me full blood test results. I think they think we are all morons and could not understand them.

Gillybabe,

Is it possible that only TSH has been requested and tested?

No. As I saw on blood test form the request for TSH T4 and T3.

Gillybabe,

Why not ring your GP receptionist and ask for your TSH, T4 and T3 results and ranges? If receptionist doesn't have T4 and T3 results then it looks as though the lab didn't test them.

Hi there first of all you are entitled to your results!! On blood forms tsh and frees 3 and 4 are noted down but unfortunatley now in some areas if your tsh is in range the lab wont do the others, it has happened to me twice now to my endo's disgust-so now i have to have mine done at the hospital where my endo appts are. If you are under a endo get them to do it.x☺

UK GP practices are supposed to offer online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need enhanced access to see blood results.

In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies. Plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12.

Essential to test thyroid antibodies, FT3 and FT4 plus vitamins

Private tests are available

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's

At last got full print out but guess what no t3 result in print out and I know doctor requested it. However t4 is 16 and TSH 0.62. T4 is one down on last blood test which was 17 and last tsh was 1.89 so that last tsh was up a bit. Lab ranges are t4 10.30 - 22.70 and tsh ranges 0.35 - 5.50.

Glad you got your results but does not surprise me there is no free 3 even if the gp did request it as the labs will do what they want-it maybe a good idea to put your results on a new post if you need help with them as it wont be seen here.😊😊
