Hi all, me again, can you help me to make sure im having the correct bloods done for iron-it is just ferritin, b12, serum folate? Is there other iron tests or is it just them? I am due to retest ferritin but wasnt sure if i should be asking for something else.xx🌟🌟

Ferritin is the iron test, it is your iron store. If Ferritin comes back low then an iron panel and full blood count should be carried out.

B12 and Folate are B vitamins and they work together.

Thankyou ss.xx😊

The iron panel is for celiac disease? There seems to be a problem with folate absorption in food. You are sick with supplements - methyl folate is recommended by administrators.

An iron panel is useful for anyone who struggles to absorb nutrients, not just people with celiac disease.

Thanks! Michelle has had difficulty with tests lost or mislaid and another thread was a discussion on celiac disease, which may be the main cause of iron deficiency in cases with several autoimmune disorders. such as combined Hashis and celiac disease.

No not for celiac-just been on supplements for 7 weeks now so gp said they need re testing to see if risen? If not it was the labs suggestion i should see GI, but i am seeing them anyway on the 28th for my celiac.xx

Hi Michelle - hope those tests go through as there was a bit of a problem 7 weeks ago.

From verywell.com/anaemia " anaemia is a very common symptom of celiac disease."

Haven't seen iron deficiency as a common symptom of thyroid disorder other than linked with B12 and folate deficiency. xx

Yes you are right-7 weeks ago i had only just started using the iron so it would not have kicked in then-it was a measley 10- i hope it has moved but if it hasnt i agree they need to sort it out!! Xxx
