Headaches

Does anyone experience headaches on waking with hypo? It's one of my worst symptoms. I wake with such a bad headache some days and an overwhelming grogginess. It feels like I've been out drinking all night and waking after only a few hours sleep.

Symptoms usually ease after a few hours although some grogginess always remains.

I'm awaiting tests.. Just wondered if anyone can relate?

Thanks

Fairly common, happens to me if I'm undermedicated.

Thank you that's good to know as I believe I am!

You will probably find you have LOW iron - so will have to wait for results 😊

Yes, you describe me exactly, especially when I was under medicated BUT not always in these circumstances.

Horrid isn't it? Yet reassuring to know as I'm undermediacted at the moment I believe and hoping this will improve as my dose is optimised!

Have you tried taking another make of levothyroxine as sometimes the fillers/binders in some might have a bad affect.

Can you recommend the 'cleanest' brand to save me experimentation? Thank you. I'm currently taking levothyroxine sodium by Mercury pharma. They always seem to give me a different brand but have been on this one a while. Thanks

The cleanest brand is most likely one that suits you. Although Levo does not tend to contain gluten, brands frequently have lactose fillers. Many folk have intolerance to this. I have, but lactose in Levo does not appear to bother me. Other more experienced people will reply in due course no doubt.

I am sorry that isn't possible as everyone can have a different response to levothyroxine which is a synthetic hormone and its job is to convert to T3.

A member who is satisfied with their levo might suggest one but that doesn't guarantee it will work for you although it might well do.

If you mean the pharmacist gives you a different levothyroxine each time, tell them you only want a particular one and try it for a few months to see how you adapt and if not then you try another make. There are different fillers/binders in levo so that's why one might affect you so it is trial and error.

Thank you- I'm gathering as much info as I can to ask my private endo (from the tuk list)

I'm pretty keen to go to natural thyroid which seems to be better for a lot of people doesn't it?

Yes, quite a few members much prefer NDT. It means you have to buy your own.

Before the 50s/60s NDT was all that was available and no blood tests either, just diagnosed due to our clinical symptoms (they know none nowadays) and given a trial.

I will give you a link by an Adviser to Thyroiduk.org.uk who died through an accident but he wrote the following to the BTA and RCoP (he was also a Scientist and Researcher) and requested a response from them for three years before his death but they never did respond. Just ignored it altogether.

Interesting thank you. Could you please message me reputable sites where I can purchase natural thyroid please?

I only know of one which is In house Pharmacy - I believe in Thailand.
