Liothyronine headaches -do they eventually go??

Hi I’ve been adding liothyronine to my levo for a few weeks now. I’ve been generally feeling a bit more brighter/clearer headed but a few hours after taking it I’m getting a headache which tends to last most of the day. I’ve tried lowering my dose but even on lowest dose it still happens to some extent. Has anyone else had experience of this? Does it eventually go or does it mean I’m not suited to liothyronine? Has anyone had this experience but then been ok on natural dessicated form of T3??

Not sure how long to persevere!

Thanks in advance

I’ve had violent headaches and all sorts of symptoms. I’d stay at the same dose try persist with headaches for a while as they are worse to start. It might be the fillers, Sigma Pharma made me very ill. You need to get your bloods done once your on stable dose and the adjust accordingly.

If you still feel the same in a few weeks stop the t3 for a few days then start at a lower dose and build up. I started on 2.5mcg, I know some take the dust from the tablet and build up as it’s such a powerful kick to their system.

I’m seeing so many posts about people struggling on t3, I’ve temporarily stopped mine as felt so ill. All the above is advice I’ve had from members.

Yes I still get the head ache. Did ok to begin, then awful head so went right down on levo, then right down in lio, then back up on levo, then back up on lio! I’m taking on the advice to get all vits to good levels with the idea t3 conversion prob better then so I can stop the lio completely.

But I’d like to hear from someone who hated t3 but did better on NDT.

I used to get headaches which were triggered by either dairy or soya and when I cut them out and generally cleaned up my diet, had a big improvement. I guess I'm saying the headaches might not be triggered by the T3, it could be something else?

Hi daisy - wondering how you are doing - I am trying same as you, but you're a bit ahead of me. 4 weeks on 10mg of t3 with my levo, feel better but the headaches are awful .... wondered did you keep persevering??

Hi there

I have persevered yes -I reduced my dose right down and now slowly increasing again! I stayed at 4mcg for a week or so and headaches did start easing off a bit. I’ve now gone up to 6mcg and headaches initially worse again but think they have eased a little in last few days. I’m going to stick with this dose for another few weeks and get my bloods tested to see how it’s all looking. I’m hoping the headaches have gone completely by then but I’m not getting my hopes up too much! I’ll keep you posted-likewise let me know how you get on! Best of luck xxx
