Hi all, am i right in thinking that people with thyroid problems suffer with cold hands and feet? I have always been the opposite until about a month ago, but in the last week or so i've been waking up in the night with very very painful pins and needles in my fingers which last a good few hours after i've got up. I put it down to the weather getting colder but thought i'd ask on here if anyone knows what could be causing it.
Thanks in advance for any help 😁

The Dr said to retest thyroid levels in January. In Feb my B12 was 1388 ng/L 180-900 and folate was 8.2 microg but they wouldn't test anything other than thyroid last time. I have the Betteryou B12 spray and just do 4 sprays on a Sunday.

Folate low
Rather than just B12 far better to take a daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help maintain B12 levels
Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose and may need separate methyl folate couple times a week
Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)
Post discussing how biotin can affect test results
When were vitamin D and ferritin levels last tested
Get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing 8-10 weeks after reducing dose Levo
Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
I always get the same brand of levo and follow protocol on bloodtest. Everything was tested in Feb this year but when i went in Oct the nurse would only retest thyroid, this is febs results
TSH 0.01 mU/L 0.30-4.20
FT4 22.1 pmol/L 9.0-19.0
FT3 6.2 pmol/L 3-5.4
B12 1388 ng/L 180-900
Vit D 189 nmol/L 50-250
Transferrin Sat Index 46% 16-50
Serrum Transferrin 2.24 g/L 1.8-3.6
Serum Iron 25.6 micromol/L 11-30
Folate 8.2 microg/L 3.0-20.0
Ferritin 165.0 microg/L 30-336
I might send a letter to my Dr and ask for a retest after 8 weeks and ask if she'll retest all my vitamins aswell as i'm supplementing.
