Kefir Diary continued: Of interest to ALL, Hashimoto's and PMR suffers. Reduced CRP results!

Poppy_the_cat profile image
β€’35 Replies

As I continue my own Kefir journey, suffering from Hashimoto's, being coeliac and having other issues, I have only been on probiotic Kefir for not quite 8 weeks.

My own personal results and progress astound me. My mother is also benefiting tremendously...as are others. I have sent some kefir to a dear friend who suffers from PMR amongst other things; she too is reporting tremendous results, after only two weeks!!!

For 18 months her CRP levels have remained high, with all the steroids she takes having very little if no effect.

Well, in the first week of taking kefir she felt well enough to walk the dogs...and now after her biweekly blood tests, her results have come back as having a lower CRP reading, intact the lowest she has had in 18 months! We are both thrilled. She has done nothing else to have altered her regime... It is definitely the kefir.

In fact my own blood tests performed 3 weeks after starting to take kefir, showed "puzzlingly lowered CRP", that my own consultant could not explain.

Anybody with inflammatory issues needs to attack it via healing/ improving the gut biome, this is without doubt. No amount of medication will perform as well as Kefir- a sweeping statement perhaps for some.

Understanding the hugely pivotal influence the gut biome has on our general health is still vastly underestimated and not sufficiently understood.

If you want to take back control, educate yourself on gut health, the gut biome, live probiotics such as kefir, water based Coconut Kefir if you cannot tolerate cow dairy. As the tee shirt says "Just Do It!".

Good luck.

Poppy - do you have a recipe for your water kefir? I've tried dairy kefir in the past but it was a bit of a nuisance having to leave it at a certain temperature for 24 hours .

Poppy_the_cat profile image
Poppy_the_cat in reply to Trixie64

Hi, well I leave mine above a radiator, and I cover them to keep them in the dark with the sleeves of old lambswool sweaters that I have chopped off. 24hrs first ferment with the grains.. and then 3 other 24hrs fermenting with the fruit alone which you swap out and renew every evening. So all in all the complete duration is 4 days but we'll worth it.

If you private messageme I shall email you full instructions and photo guide.

What I produce is so delicious it tastes like Perry! Not exactly a hardship.

Hello Clara,

Please private message me yr email and I will gladly do so.

I can't drink enough of it I love it do much!! Who would not, as it tastes like Perry!

I drink first thing in the morning, half hour before eating.

Another G&T glass size in the afternoon...

Then a third glass at around 6-6.30pm again, half hour before eating.

When you first start...drink smaller amounts, ie/ say quarter or third of a glass.

Initial response may give slight constipation in the first week, not to worry, it corrects itself after a week or so.

Look forward to sending you all instructions.

Poppy could you kindly send me your recipe for keifer too please, I thought it was shop bought and maybe it tasted like a yoghurt, I have no idea what keifer actually is, but sounds lovely. :)

Hello Coast walker, by all means. I will explain all. What I brew is not just brilliant for the gut biome but it tastes like Perry!

Just private message me your email and I will bounce it back to you.

Thank-you you are a darling. Well, I think realistically I have been ill for at least 20 years or more. I have been constantly dismissed and fobbed off by so many ignorant specialists who view their patients through a keyhole instead of taking in the full panorama. I decided last autumn I could not go on another day. I had reached the point that I could hardly eat a single thing without swelling by almost 7" in the girth. So I took charge. I have not told my Drs at all, as I don't want them taking credit for my wonderful improvements. I am keeping it secret because I can hardly believe it, and of course I want to help others experience the same improvements as I believe using our own body's resources as much as possible first is better than chemical medication which should only be resorted to when everything else has failed... I feel a different person....it's a great start. I am very excited.

Poppy_the_cat I have been ill for 35 years! Getting so utterly "sick to death" of it. I have begun to try the dairy kefir but would be so grateful if you could PM me with your exact method. To be honest, I haven't been able to get my brain around it.... but I must try. Thanks

Please if you would private message me yr email, I can bounce it back to you.

One has to be prepared to put in the time and effort to prepare this wonderful kefir and look after the grain too but it's well worth the effort.

Do it and you will be amazed and of course keep a diary to chart your progress.

Yes correct CRP.

The fruits flavours and continues to provide natural sugars to continue feeding the wee Probiotics.

Once I feel better enough I too want to try unpasteurised milk kefir!

Poppy_the_cat profile image
Poppy_the_cat

Thank you Dottie. I know I have read up on it but thank you for the links.

Having been so very I'll unable to virtually digest a thing I have elected to go for the water based Kefir first and then graduate to the unpasteurised milk version.

Hi Poppy

I would be grateful if you could send me details on coconut kefir, I have cut out dairy, sugar and grains and although my stomach seems better, I just feel there is something more I need. I tried milk based kefir and did not get on with it, I don't even like milk, but you try anything to feel better.

Keep on getting better.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi Poppy

I was diagnosed with Hashis several years ago, following the birth of my daughter. My dose was 175mcg, I have piled weight on, ground my teeth & lost 1 molar, cracked another. I have horrendous inflammation which. Has increased significantly since I moved to the US. I have started taking Plexus, which is magnesium & probiotics. I am mega dosing, It’s helping, but is not making the difference I would like & it is very expensive. I have less anxiety & sleep better, but the inflammation is horrendous after chocolate & ive pretty much had to give up dairy.

I would love to hear more about the kefir, how I can make it & how much to take. I will try anything! I know where I can get raw milk from, but I have no idea about how/what I should do, if you could please email me the info, I would be extremely grateful!
