Kefir Diary: Weight loss!!! Yippee!

As another ongoing observation, since starting to brew and drink my own coconut water based Kefir... I have been losing weight!

No diet of any kind, normal eating habits.

No sugar pretty much, no pastries, no biscuits, so pretty normal...doing everything I always do..

My jeans are baggy and since starting to drink Kefir I have gone down 3 holes on my belt!

I am also currently taking a four week course of Flucanazole. I am Hashimoto's, with multiple food allergies, even rice recently. I take through replacement, adrenal support...so the only thing that has changed is my kefir.

I am thrilled. I know things are improving as I can reach my boots and deal with the laces more easily!

I highly recommend it apart from its gut biome repair attributes!

That's something I've been meaning to try after my nutrition therapist recommended it. Do you mind me asking how you make your own? Great to hear how it's helped you. Brilliant :D

Damage to the gut biome has been implicated in obesity, so perhaps that's why the kefir has been so helpful. :-) Reducing carbs will have helped you too.

Well done!

PS Also have cat named Poppy. Must have been a popular name a few years back. :-)

Sounds good, would love to know how you make the kefir, tried a dairy version once and not so nice

I also make water Kefir, and the improvement to my health is almost astonishing. I also make fermented vegetables as we should get a variety of probiotics to avoid one becoming dominant.

I found that after starting Kefir, I got to the stage where I could do regular exercise, and lost a stone over a few months.

Hello Fellow Kefir Buddy,

Golly fermented vegetables??

Your point is very very interesting. Please would you have any advice on how to prepare them, as I would love do the same.

I eagerly look forward to preparing them too.

Hi Poppy, just go to You Tube and search for 'easy fermented vegetables'. You just need a Kilner jar, and stuff that you will already have in the kitchen.

Curious about taking kefir Poppy_the_cat . I drink goat milk kefir daily, but have not seen a reduction of weight. Wondering if I should switch to coconut water kefir, am keen to lose at least a stone.

Thank you for posting

Hhmmmm I would not know?? Maybe it's worth a try? I also keep off the potatoes. I can't even eat rice, so I don't eat that... I don't eat pastries, cakes on the whole, or biscuits or bread as I am soya intolerant too.. I just have a glass of Cava champagne at weekends and sometime a cake on Sundays...that's all the 'sweets' I have.

I do iron, VitD, magnesium and vit C supplement...and at the moment I am on a course of Flucanozole to blitz the not to candid albicans!

Give it a try. It's worth it.

Good luck.

Hi - I'm going to try that - just wondering if the fact that it's coconut kefir is significant as I've heard that coconut oil can help you lose weight????

Coconut oil is also supposed to help get rid of h pylori so maybe that is also a factor???

Hi poppy ! How is the weight loss going! Congrats to you it must feel amazing. I have adrenal fatigue so hormones are mad as are cravings and really could do with losing weight. I get confused with kefir as I see it's dairy . Do u make yours at home? Which one do you buy and from where? Thanking you xx
