T3 in Spain

Can you take a British prescription to Spain and get it filled for Liothyronine T3 and do they restrict the amount you can get?

Levo is available otc in Spain but Liothyronine doesn’t seem to be available at all - otc or with a prescription. When I asked about it at a number of pharmacies, they checked their computer systems and came up blank.

Technically your NHS prescription should be valid in Europe but in practice who knows whether the pharmacy will accept it. Ask for Liotironina.

I enquired when I went in July last year. It had to be ordered in via import. I checked about 6 pharmacies and only got that info from the last two. One independent & one small chain found it - I was in the town centre, so please keep that in mind if you are going to Barcelona. I asked for 3 packets, but didn’t ask how many I could purchase. I got the feeling it would be a day or two to order but also didn’t query. But I believe out prescriptions are accepted their whole we’re still in the EU.
