You will need to request VitD. TFT's do not always include TSH FT4 FT3 & antibodies TPO &Tg. Labs get away with doing just the TSH and sometimes the FT4 if you are lucky.

jjb1983,

VitD is a separate test. It's not part of a B12 test. Thyroid function test usually includes TSH and FT4.

My doc has told me that if my thyroid shows any abnormalities the lab will automatically do the thyroid antibodies. And she will not do my vitamin d as she said it was fine in December. My thyroid has been up and down, back in September 2012 my thyroid was 4.95 then went back to normal until now. I have been very stressed and anxious lately. I will see what bloods come back if there still up I will request for the lot to be done if they refuse I will go private or try other doctors.

jjb1983,

It is not impossible that a lab checks your background and, if this if the first "abnormal" thyroid function test, they will do an antibodies test.

Trouble is:

We know that not all labs do that;

What we here might class as "abnormal" could well be treated as "within reference range" by a lab;

Almost 100% certain the lab will not do Free T3, and might not do Free T4.

I wonder if the doc is meaning that the lab will refuse to do an antibodies test unless the other thyroid function tests show an issue (in their opinion)? That is, not that they will if abnormal, but they won't if not. A very different situation.

Well I will find out won't I. Days I feel like I could bounce off the walls with energy bursts and days I feel like I'm literally peeling myself from bed. So it make me wonder if it's going up and down if that's even possible.

Thank you

a common symptom of B12 and folate deficiencies is macrocytic anaemia in which red blood cells are larger and rounder than normal (raised MCH and raised MCV) - lots more on B12 and folate deficiencies on the PAS forum

My bloods have shown my esophils are raised all the time do you know what this is. And does b12 get checked on a full blood count?

esionophils are a type of white blood cell - raised white blood cell counts are usually an indicator of some sort of infection

They have been raised since 2014 slightly
