Blood Results

Hi All,

Would like your opinions on my latest blood results. My GP only tested free T4 and TSH.

Free T4 is 14.5 range 12.0 - 22.0 and TSH is 1.51 range 0.27 - 4.20 I was taking 75mcg of Levo with 10mcg of T3 when these bloods were taken but raised my T3 to 15mcg as I started feeling sluggish again. I've been on the 15mcg for two weeks now but again started feeling a bit rubbish, should I raise my T3 up to 20mcg?

When you are on a prescribed dose of, it's important that FT3 is tested. Your endo should know this and ideally your GP should. It should be written on your blood test request form "Patient on T3" so that the lab will hopefully test FT3.

You haven't given ranges, we don't know where your FT4 lies in it's range, they differ from lab to lab. It could be low, you might need an increase in Levo. With my lab 14.5 is quite near the upper end (7-17) but your lab could be 12-22 or something else.

Also, you have only been on an increased dose of T3 for 2 weeks, so far too early at the moment to know if an increase is needed.

You haven't stated your ranges. Ranges are important - the reason being that labs differ and so do ranges.

If you have them you can press the down arrow and select edit which will enable you to put them in.

Sorry, I've added the range on my post. FT3 was requested but they never do test it.

Your FT4 is very low in range. I'm on a combo like you and I don't function well at all with such a low FT4, others might. However, it is essential to have FT3 tested when using T3 so if your GP won't test it contact your endo or do a Medichecks or Blue Horizon basic test for TSH, FT4 and FT3.

Thanks SeasideSusie do you think I should raise my levo to 100mcg and reduce my T3? I'm going to get private blood tests done but it will be after Christmas now. If I change my dose I'll wait the 6 weeks to have them done
