Don't blame your thyroid for everything ....

Just wanted to let you guys know my story because you shouldn't blame all your symptoms on hypothyroidism . I was diagnosed about 8 years ago through excessive tiredness and too many viruses prob had it a few years before diagnosis . Took Levo and supplements and felt so so more bad than well . This year I went for a routine smear where they found a tumour on my cervix all removed all ok benign. Whilst under hospital care they referred me for a colonoscopy. Woke up to the consultant telling me "I'm so sorry but we found a tumour that was too big to remove but I will through surgery in a few days " apparently thyroid tiredness had masked my symptoms I blamed it all on my thyroid tiredness upset tummy etc.. they have removed it all but I probably had about 6 months and it had probably been in my colon for 8 years. Please don't blame everything on thyroid and press for tests my gp had refused any other investigations

Yes, agreed, if you have symptoms just keep returing and insist on investigations.

Karen god bless you and you are so right about persisting with docs about any re-occuring problem, a friend of mine kept kept taking her 17 year old son to the docs on a regular basis, he was always tired and losing weight, body pain and catching colds , migraines 6 months later he woke one night in terrible pain in his head and body, he died tbe following day, leaukemia the hospital said. Very sad. But i think we know when something is truly wrong but what can you do when ignorant self important docs think they are right.x😊

Thankyou. I think we can all learn from that and from your experience. Xx

I hope that you soon recover. My Mum had two operations for colon cancer in her 70's and lived a happy life until the age of 99 years.

She only had symptoms of losing weight and low blood pressure. No thyroid problems at all.

I forgot to say thank you for reminding us not to be complaisant.
