I had an operation 17 years ago, and 95% of my thyroid removed. I went from over active to under active, and all the symptoms of under active thyroid. I have hair loss, weigh gain, brain fog and tiredness to name a few syptoms.
Has anyone else who has had 95% thyroid removed, take Armour, as I have been on Levothroxin for the last 17 years .
i would like to try armour, I am also a type 1 diabetic on insulin injections,
Any advice warmly welcome,
Thank you in advance

With only a 5% of your thyroid gland working, I think you deserve to have a trial of Armour. It is the original although the dessicated thyroid hormone in a different forum began in 1892 and was successful and saved the patient's life and from thereon we had NDT (natural dessicated thyroid) in different forms and today we have several good ones.
I think you will find a big difference after being on levo for 17 years.
Doctors can prescribe it on a 'named patient basis' but few will. Some Endocrinologists will but they have been given False Statements by the British Thyroid Association and the RCoP. but many patients have become well.
If your Endocrinologist/GP wont allow a trial you might have to source your own. We don't name on the open forum but you can ask for a Private Message to be sent to you.

Natasha, you can take any form of thyroid replacement but because Armour isn't licensed for UK use few NHS doctors will prescribe it and you will probably have to buy your own online.
If you post your thyroid results with the lab ref ranges members will advise whether you are optimally medicated or need a dose increase.
