EIRR,
NHS is clamping down on prescriptions for Liothyronine due to cost. Even if patients local to you are currently prescribed it doesn't mean that prescriptions will be given to new patients. NHS England and the BTA recommend that GPs should only prescribe T3 following recommendation by a NHS endocrinologist. Not all endocrinologists support T3 and we are sadly seeing a number of members having prescriptions withdrawn because a new endo doesn't agree with it. Increasingly members are buying T3 online and self medicating.
NDT isn't licenced for UK use and isn't supported by the BTA so it is rarely prescribed on NHS. Even if an endocrinologist recommended it GPs are not obliged to prescribe unlicenced drugs. Most members taking NDT have private prescriptions or buy online and self medicate.
