Does anybody know a decent endocrinologist in or around South Yorkshire? I live near Sheffield/Rotherham. I am currently going through my 4th miscarriage of the year and am now being re-referred to the recurrent miscarriage specialist (NHS). This consultant is incredibly ignorant of hypothyroidism and I need an endo on board asap who can hopefully support and back me up. I am happy to go private.
Any help would be so much appreciated. I would't mind travelling further afield if anyone knows of an endo that has a good understanding of hypothyroidism and fertility.
Thank you.

Thank you shaws. I do have the list of private doctors but couldn't see anyone vaguely close to me. To be honest I'd drive across the country if I had to, but would need some assurance that the person I was going to see would listen! I was hoping to get a good reference from another person on here.
You are right I need to be sorted thyroid-wise before trying for a baby. If I wasn't approaching 40 I'd probably have slowed down with the trying by now. I've already had my T4 increased by 50mcg since first trying for a baby and was hoping things would improve now I am night-time dosing. I will be doing private blood tests and posting shortly (though don't think zinc is included, however I supplement with 75% rda zinc). I supplement with iron, folate, vitamin D and B12 (amongst others), so will be interested to see if that's enough. Thanks again.
I've very sorry to hear that you've been through this. If you're able to find someone could you please let me know? I have a list from Thyroid UK and there isn't really anyone local on it. Thank you.
Of course I will let you know. It's frustrating isn't it? I did read about a woman on here who had her T4 doubled when she was pregnant by recommendation of an endo (and she finally had a successful pregnancy), but haven't been able to relocate that post since first reading it.
There was someone a while ago from Norwich who was trying to either get or stay pregnant. She went to Cambridge and saw my endocrinologist but I don't know what the outcome was and unfortunately I can’t remember who she was either.
If you don’t get anywhere with this post try posting again with a heading that includes ‘pregnancy’ or ‘hypo and repeated miscarriages’ or something like that. Hopefully that will get the result you need.
Can’t help with a consultant other than to say what shaws has said about contacting Dionne but you have all my sympathy and hopefully you will find someone on here who has had a similar problem and who can advise.
I went to see a Dr Hisham Maksoud who is based in Nottingham and Derby. If you google him, he'll come up straight away. He's a lovely man and very attentive. I can't say for sure whether his diagnosis and treatment will work as it's early days, but I do at least feel safe in the knowledge I am in the hands of someone who knows what he is talking about. He's even written a book on Thyroid function which is on Amazon, and people travel from all over the country to see him. I definitely plan to keep him as my endo.
