I'm 65 years old female. I have hypothyroidism. I've been on Canadian dessicated thyroid (90mg) from Erfa for many years. I'm tired, weak, depressed, can't sleep. At the same time anxious, restless, can't sit or stand still. I retired in April because I was too tired to work. Then I lost my husband so I can be depressed but I I've been not well for years.
There are my recent results:
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone [TSH] LO 0.02 (0.32-4.00) mIU/L !!!!!
Welcome to our forum and I am very sorry you have lost your husband as that has compounded how you feel.
However, I see that both your FT4 and FT3 are bottom of the range when they should be nearer the top of the range.
You need an increase in Erfa and because it is an NDT we can add 1/4 tablet every two weeks until we feel better and relief of clinical symptoms.
Because you take Erfa, your blood tests cannot correspond with taking T4 only and the blood tests we have nowadays were introduced along with levothyroxine, so it is obvious doctors are unaware of this phenomenom as Erfa contains, T4, T3, T2,T1 and calcitonin (helps with bones).
You can read the three chapters in the following link and they were by one of our Advisers, who has now died but you should get some good advice. He would never prescribe levothyroxine only NDT and T3 for thyroid hormone resistant patients.
Were these tests done by your GP and what did they say about the B12 result?
If you don't supplement then please speak to your GP as there are a few conditions that affect liver and kidney and can cause your B12 levels to build up. For some people raised levels of B12 in their blood kicks of a reaction that stops B12 passing from blood to cells resulting in a 'functional B12 deficiency'
if you do supplement then would suggest that you stop ... and ask your GP to run MMA/homocysteine tests to check if your cells are getting enough B12 - these are waste products that will build up and do damage if your cells don't have enough B12 to recycle them into useful building blocks.
There is a huge overlap between the symptoms of B12 deficiency and hyppothyroidism.
