I had my bloods done privately and fasted as recommended by this site, in NHS blood test in October my TFH was 4.22, this blood test I am now 4.87 (range .27- 4.20).
See rest of results below, I asked for the clinics doctor's comments and they wrote I was at the beginning of Hypothyroid disease. What next?? I see my GP tomorrow and menopause consultant in 2 weeks because I am struggling wth mood swings, anxiety and fatigue
Well, your TSH appears to be rising. Were both tests done around the same time, ie very early morning, no later than 9am, and were they done after an overnight fast? That gives the highest TSH and when conditions are the same the results are comparable.
Unfortunately even though your latest result is over range, it doesn't meet the magic number 10 which most doctors want to see, nor are your free Ts below range, so you're unlikely to get a diagnosis of hypothyroidism.
Your antibodies are low so this test shows negative for autoimmune thyroiditis aka Hashimoto's.
Were ferritin, folate and B12 tested?
Vit D is too low at 50nmol/L. The Vit D Council recommends 100-150nmol/L. You could supplement with 5000iu D3 for 3 months then retest, and when you've reached the recommended level reduce to a maintenance dose which could be 5000iu alternate days, maybe more, maybe less, it's trial and error.
D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems.
D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, D3 four hours away from thyroid meds.
Magnesium helps D3 to work and comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds
Thank you, the first test was done mid morning no fasting, second test done 9am fasting. I am having an another NHS done to tomorrow 8.40am which I will fast for. I will look at Vitamin D, and read up, I tried magnesium citrate but it gave me an upset tummy. Ned to try a different formula. Thanks for advice
