T3 only - 3 weeks in

So having sourced T3, I read up as much as I could and then just made the change to T3 only. Within 48 hours I felt things changing. I found my thoughts feeling clearer. Then I found myself thinking 'it would be nice to go and see this or that' where as for the last two years it has all been about how quickly I could get back to bed and be left in peace. Then the throbbing pains stopped. I began feeling positive and energised. I am still working on the dosing and timing but I have had no side-effects.

Big day today as I had to go and confess all to my GP - he was amazed to see how well I was and was fascinated by the T3 only notion. I told him I was having to source outside of Europe and he said he would try to help. I pointed out to him that T3 only is available here in France (I had checked with the pharmacist) he did not know it was. So he rang the chemist and checked they could supply. He then wrote me a prescription and ordered himself Paul Robinson's Recovering with T3 book. So I now have his support, a simple, easy and free supply of medication and I feel better than I have for years.

I am so glad that he wanted to learn and I just hope that maybe others will be freed more quickly from this awful condition.

I am not surprised that as a GP he was unaware as my ENDO seemed to have no notion of the importance of T3.

I felt that I had to present myself as a well person to be believed which is what I did, no anti-depressants, no migraine tablets, no pain-killers for my legs. It feels like it has been a real turning point today.

I hope that everyone in the UK soon gets a reinstated supply of T3.

Apparently it costs the French State 2 euro 70 cents a month to supply me with T3, a small price to pay.

France1,

That's wonderful. You're very lucky to have such a supportive and interested GP.

Well done and educating doctors at the same time is wonderful. I will give you a couple of links which you can give to these doctors.

The above doctor, now deceased, would only provide Natural Dessicated Thyroid Hormones or T3 for thyroid resistant patients.

re the final link, as it is archived I don't know how the ???? marks came about but ignore them.

Really interesting, keep us posted. I'm afraid that even if UK allows T3, our stuck in the dark ages, CCG won't.

France1, so glad to hear this news. I also find T3 enormously helpful and cannot understand why an economical hormone that does not need the conversion of T4 is not used for everyone. I congratulate you because it does take the will and the energy to seek help for yourself. I'm sure the two years of suffering will probably cause a bit of angst but thankfully it wasn't ten years.

T3 has made an enormous difference for my well-being as well...I take NDT, but never felt well on T4 alone. However, I believe that it's the fact that T3 tends to suppress the TSH that makes doctors nervous and unwilling to prescribe it...since going on NDT, six years ago, my TSH has never been above 0.01, and most doctors freak out when they see that...
