I feel very fortunate that after nearly 6 months since diagnoses of hypothyroidism and Hashimotos I am now feeling so well. The advice and support from this site has been the main reason that I have been able to regain my health and I am so grateful. I would not have known to go gluten free, to supplement my vitamins to top of range rather than just in range, and to time taking my levo to aid absorption.
So this is what is working for me. My GP had increased my levo to 75mcg but after having private blood tests done I increased it further to 100mcg. I have been gluten free for nearly 2 months and felt the benefits of that almost immediately. I supplement B12 as I was in the lower range and I am continuing with prescribed Ferrous Fumerate taking it with Vit C. I also take Selenium and Pro Biotics.
It has been a rocky journey. I felt worse following starting treatment - I had days when I could barely move and my mood was very low. I could see no light and the end of the tunnel. My GP wanted to prescribe antidepressants but I resisted as I wanted to give the Levo and supplements a chance to work. I have also learned to listen to my body. If I am tired I rest even if that means I cancel a prearranged event.
I wanted to share this with you as I know when I was in a dark place just a couple of short months ago I was desperate to know that it would get better. Xx
