Diagnosed 2011 taking 50mcg levothyroxine do I need more thank you

TSH 6.3 (0.2 - 4.2)

Free T4 13.8 (12 - 22)

Free T3 3.2 (3.1 - 6.8)

You certainly do. 50mcg is a "starting" dose and should be increased every six weeks by 25mcg until your TSH is 1 or lower. Yours is above range at 6.3 after six years of being diagnosed. Disgraceful is too soft a word. Worst both FT4 and FT3 are bottom of range when they should be towards the upper part.

You need an immediately increase now and so on until your TSH is 1. You can tell GP you've taken advice from the NHS Choices for dysfunctions of the Thyroid gland.

Blood tests have to be at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test and take it afterwards. Ask also for B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. Everything has to be optimal and deficiencies can cause symptoms.

Thanks I had vitamins tested and I am iron deficient do I post these?
