hello..i just don't know what to do anymore..am UK based so i have to pay medichecks for testing as GP only does TSH and T4
Seems so different in the results: I am on 75mcg levothyroxine 5 days and then told to take 100mcg levothyroxine 2 days this seemed to help as my results changed
March Free T4 19.2, TSH 2.94
April Free T4 17.5, TSH 1.51
But now medichecks for June is
Free T4 17.7pmol/L,
TSH 5.53miu/L
Free T3 3.2pmol/L
also antibodies have risen a lot
I take meds in the evening and am also TTC so making it feel even more stressful. I am cutting gluten and dairy also.
Any advice xx

As reference ranges vary from lab to lab, please add the ranges for all your tests.
Can you tell us if you did all your tests under the same conditions, and as we advise - it would mean that you would need to adjust the timing of your Levo for the test as you take yours in the evening:
* Blood draw no later than 9am. This is because TSH is highest early morning and lowers throughout the day. If looking for a diagnosis of hypothyroidism, an increase in dose of Levo or to avoid a reduction then we need the highest possible TSH
* Nothing to eat or drink except water before the blood draw. This is because eating can lower TSH and coffee can affect TSH.
* If taking thyroid hormone replacement, last dose of Levo should be 24 hours before blood draw, if taking NDT or T3 then last dose should be 8-12 hours before blood draw. Adjust timing the day before if necessary. This avoids measuring hormone levels at their peak after ingestion of hormone replacement. Take your thyroid meds after the blood draw. Taking your dose too close to the blood draw will give false high results, leaving any longer gap will give false low results.
* If you take Biotin or a B Complex containing Biotin (B7), leave this off for 7 days before any blood test. This is because if Biotin is used in the testing procedure it can give false results (most labs use biotin).
These are patient to patient tips which we don't discuss with phlebotomists or doctors.
We can already see that with your Medichecks test your TSH is over range which means that you are undermedicated, possibly a hypo phase of your Hashi's.
Looking at your previous post I see that information about Hashi's was posted then
I saw my last post. Its just that after that my meds were increased results are worse.I cant get anything but levothyroxine for medication. I am speaking to gp tomorrow but they dont do anything..
I feel like giving up on it and letting it be what it is.
you're taking 100mcg 2 days a week but can you take it 3 days a week to see if it increases FT3 ? Usually you would hold that for 6 weeks. Then add another 100mcg day if you need.
The only way you'll know is if you do an increase and hold it for 6 weeks. For now I think you should try a small increase but it's going to take several weeks to notice any changes.
I had increased to 100mcg everyday and then was checked after about 3 week and tsh still 5.36 so i've now reduced back to 75mcg as my levels were much better on this dose. The T4 has gone up to 20 so too much levo.
20 isn't high. I'd consider that very low for myself but I don't have a functioning thyroid. I'm usually somewhere around 25 to feel normal but it never puts the actual levels of thyroxine in my body over range and my dose is correct according to my weight. It also puts my T3 close to 80% in range.
See the GP, take the results, tell him you are sick and tired of feeling so sick and tired, so were forced to do a private test that shows you are under medicated. Before he can deny you an increase, ask to try some T3. He wil be so shocked he will give you an increase. Take it slow as I am sure you know and I hope you feel better soon. Hug.
Thank you. I will ask again. I'm supposed to have my fet next month..I'm so scared and cant keep putting it off time is precious to me and also it's making me so depressed x
I know. I've told them this. It was 1.51 was month. It's gone up since I had vaccine but surly cant be that affecting it. Someone said it can? I have appt. Monday so will ask. Am worried to take too much as result was good in April.
I am increased to 100mcg a day now and will get repeat bloods done. The dont issue t3 on nhs as no evidence to support this is needed when taking thyroixone. Thank you all.
