Hi All, looking for some advice on the below labs.
Feb 2017
Serum Folate 7.8 (3.90-20.00)
Serum Ferritin 135 (30.00-400.00)
Serum B12 287 (197.00-771.00)
Serum Free T4 17 (10.00-26.00)
Serum TSH 4.61 (0.20 - 5.00)
I recently had a private thyroid panel done too (October 17)
Free T4 15.5 (9.00-24.00)
TSH 4.3 (0.2 - 5.00)
Free T3 5.2 (3.6-6.4)
I am symptomatic but have struggled to have agreement from GP's (just received a referral to endo but not for months !). I also have gut symptoms but IBD/Crohns/Colitis/Coeliac all ruled out. Also believe I am showing symptoms of adrenal problems but wonder if this is as a result of thyroid issues. Any advice appreciated ! Currently taking sublingual B12 high doses and a b-complex/multi vit.
Thanks!

You can gave high thyroid antibodies and "in range" THS, FT4 and FT3
Some doctors will agreee to treat
Your TSH is pretty high, definitely higher than average, and ferritin and B12 on the low side
Also get vitamin D tested.
GP may do TPO antibodies and Vitamin D.
Supplementing vitamin B complex is ok, but remember to stop 3-5 days before any future blood tests
Multivitamins are not normally recommended here. Definitely check to see if it has iodine in, if it does, stop it. If you have Hashimoto's then iodide can make things worse
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known as autoimmune thyroid disease). About 90% of hypothyroidism in UK is due to Hashimoto's.
Hashimoto's very often affects the gut, leading to low stomach acid, malabsorption causing low vitamin levels and leaky gut.
Low vitamins that affect thyroid are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. When they are too low they stop Thyroid hormones working.
According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw or
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results
