What's the unit of measurement for Vit D - nmol/L or Ng/ml?

Was this a GP test, if so what has been said?

in reply toSeasideSusie

Choozhi - the Vit D Council recommends a level of 40-60ng/ml. With a level of 6.58 you are deficient and I imagine experiencing symptoms typical of Vit D deficiency - here is just one article about it (plenty more out there) healthline.com/health/vitam...

You should discuss your result with your doctor and see about starting D3 supplements.

Be aware that D3 has important cofactors which most doctors know nothing about so don't mention them to us vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems. D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, 4 hours away from thyroid meds if you take them.

Magnesium helps D3 to work and comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, again 4 hours away from thyroid meds naturalnews.com/046401_magn...

As per Seaside Susie, it would be helpful to know the measurement units for vitamin D.

Plus, it's essential to know if you were supplementing with B12 before that result and what the reference range is for that result. Did you have a folate level and iron panel plus FBC/CBC done?

What has your GP said about these results?

Assuming the result above isn't the result of supplementing you ought to see your GP about the B12 result as raised B12 can be an early indicator of some liver and kidney conditions.

However, if you have been supplementing then it is probably time to cut back on the supplements. You don't need to take highdose B12 unless you have an absorption problem.

Not what you're looking for?
