Took these three vitamins yesterday and felt really unwell and ended up heading to bed really early so my question is could you please advise when best to take these vitamins and is it better to take them apart
Vit B12, D and C: Took these three vitamins... - Thyroid UK
Vit B12, D and C
You should take vitamin D3 with a meal. Vitamin C on an empty stomach can cause upset. Never take vitamin C with coffee or tea because the combination of caffeine and vitamin C can cause stomach pain. B12 shouldn't do anything in re: symptoms.
DPA87, vitamins should be taken with or after food. D3 is best taken with the fattiest meal of the day. B12 sublingual lozenges can be taken at any time. I take my vitamins together immediately after food.
Thanks for replies must have just had an off day yesterday so will continue taking x
Can you say exactly what types you took and what dose? Vitamin D is good to help with pain, infection and even cancer but when I take any kind of D3, my bones actually ache. Ascorbic acid can upset your stomach and that is why ester C (esterified) is often used. A sublingual B12 should bypass the stomach for the most part.
I'm sorry you are having a problem I take all my vitamins/minerals together with food at lunch time as recommended on the bottles. I haven't had a problem yet and hope I don't. Do you have problems with your stomach at all?
No not really but felt done in yesterday. Have just taken the B12 about an hour ago and will take the vitamin C and D in a bit and see how I get on. So far feeling much better today so not sure if it was just too much for my system all together as take multivitamin and evening oil of primrose as well.
Hi,
From what I have read vit b, all of them should be taken before 1.00pm to prevent sleep problems, it seems they keep you awake otherwise.
D should be taken with fat to assist it, evening meal has been recommended but so has taking with a spoon of coconut oil. Research also say to take with a probiotic.
C I was recommended the type you put in water, as much as you can personally tolerate in a day, either in one lot or over the course of the day. I was also recommended to put iron in the water.
Hope it helps
Thank you for that, Epictetus! I've just read the first link. All new to me. I knew that D was a prohormone and figured I had problems converting and worried because my d level was very much too low. The current test is the 25 OHD and didn't realize there was any other. This puzzled me as I tan easily and am outdoors and in the sun if there is any so very shocked at my results. One summer I took high doses of D and have since tried many forms and raised only two points.
I've read many articles and listened to interviews regarding D and missed hearing anything about this. I refuse to seek advice from people dumber than myself so I hope I can pursue this on my own.
I also had to look up your pseudonym.....very neat!
Thank you again.
Hi there re the dosage I took,
Vit C - C-1000mg
Vit D - D31000 iu
Bit B12 - 1200ug (B-Complex sublingual liquid)
All three are Holland and Barrett
Feel a bit better today and even though I took late yesterday it was probs one of the best nights sleep I have had in months. I always take Levo round 3am bug slept all the way through till six 😳
Thanks for the detailed response. My latest vit D blood test was 67 with range over 50 sufficient. My GP was happy for me to supplement as I have been but will maybe wait and ask endocrinologist as should be referred this week. Really just after a semblance of a healthy life so guess I will clutch at any straw to achieve.
😊 no negative reaction for me taking vit B and vit C later in day/early evening but try take Levo hours away so normally three am
How do you diagnose vit d dysfunction? Is calcidiol test calcium blood test? I've had vit d problems for the last 7 years - had injections of 300,000 units for a year every three months and felt so ill. Felt fluey and ached. I was told it was my bones absorbing the vit d as my levels had been so low for too long - (7) back in 2009. It took a year and a half to get the vit d levels up to 90 with injections and sunshine but my body seems to use it up incredibly quickly and I'm always down at 40. When I take vit d tablets I just feel in well. What is the answer? Xx
That really is so helpful and positive thank you so so much ! 7 years I cry 7 years !!!! I've always wondered why I felt unwell on it and nobody could give me an answer! I shall def forward this onto both my gp and endo as I have high inflammation too and they can't work out why! I'm wondering if it's the bacterial infection in the cells! I'd been so ill before the vitamin D issue became highlighted.
Thank you so much I shall keep you posted xxx
