Hashimoto - seeking endo in VA

Thanks for allowing me to join. I have been battling Hashimoto for 2 years. All my endo will give me is levothyroxine. I feel terrible on it and my symptoms are horrible. My levels are all over the place. I am seeing a endo at a major university in Virginia. I am looking for another endo in northern Va that understands Hashimoto and will prescribe t3 with t4.

If you're familiar with Mary Shomon, this her doctor Kate Lemmerman verywell.com/an-interview-w.... My two cents is that endos can be the worst to turn to for thyroid help. They tend to be more by the levo book than others. Look for a functional medicine doctor.

I agree with G2G2 re: endos are pretty useless when it comes to our thyroid and meds. I belong to a NaturalThyroidHormones yahoo group in the states that maintains a list of sympathetic docs listed by states that might be helpful. I am west of Richmond and just use an NP at a little health clinic (we are in the sticks) for labs and prescriptions. So far, they have been great about working with me as long as I feel well. I don't have vitamin, iron or adrenal issues and have been on a steady dose of NDT for almost 20 yrs. I know ... I am lucky and grateful.
