Hashimoto and exercise

Hi everyone, would love some feedback please! i have hashimoto and underactive thyroid, nearly 10 years now.

I’m on t3 (which has changed my life!!) and levothyroxine.

I’m just wandering have any of you noticed that you have aches and pains if you over exert your self? As in exercise. I am achy anyway which i believe is with the hashimoto.

What symptoms do other people have that are diagnosed with hashimoto?

Thank you

I think we need all our nutrients at a good level - if low they can be the cause of aches and pains. B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD.

I was once very active - playing tennis until a few years ago - started teaching yoga at 65 some 7 years ago. I have recently stopped yoga classes due to Intensive Physio x 3 weekly around 45 minutes from home - now down to one visit. Rest was part of the protocol too 😊

I am happiest in my pool ( we live in Crete ) where I can swim for 25 mins non-stop twice a day and not feel tired - the feeling of freedom is wonderful and I feel normal - whatever normal is !!. Had spinal surgery in 2007 which has left me with numb lower legs and feet.

Whatever you choose to do there is a yoga mantra I love - yoga is about undoing as well as doing 💕 Listen to your body - handle it with care - step inside it with your mind and then you're almost there ...😴

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in 2005 and am on T3 ... Too much exercise can reduce T3 levels I have read ...

Thank you for your reply, I was bodybuilding for 10 years and had to stop because of the pain, thyroid went under, it then took 10 years to diagnose hashimoto, I realise it’s about kindness to myself, 😊

I suffered horrid pain when first diagnosed with Hashi’s but wasn’t certain if it was bone, muscle pain or both. I was later diagnosed with osteoporosis which I decided to deal with myself without the use of pharma drugs. My vit/min levels are all near the top of the range. I gradually built up strength and fitness by cycling, moderate weight training and running. I really just worked through the pain and it took a very long time but I was just determined to regain body strength and bone density. It is still difficult some days but I just won’t be beaten. I take T3 as well as T4 meds and I no longer seem to be exhausted after a bout of exercise. Everyone seems different in their response to exercise and medication. I have to do regular weight bearing exercise to reverse OP but like Marz suggests, do what you enjoy and can manage. Any exercise is better than nothing.

Thank you, I am working through it too!! I take each day as it comes, and don’t stress too much about pain, I just wondered if there was a connection to too much exercise and pain if you have hashi

Obviously there is 😊

Depends on what is causing the pain. I think there may be a connection.
