Hi I have my latest results
Tsh 2.7 (0.35-5.0)
T4 15.3(9-24)
T3 4.9(3.5-6.5)
My Endo was happy for me to stay on 50 mcg Levo but I asked for an increase as I’m not feeling great so I’m now on 50 mcg alternate with 75 mcg. Would appreciate any advice

You definately need the increase I feel much better when my TSH is around 1 my T4 around 18 and T3 over 5 you know your body but go slowly on increase get bloods done in another 6 to 8 weeks and see how you're feeling.
You should be on 75mcg daily and have another test in six weeks time with another increase of 25mcg each time until your symptoms are relieved.
Your TSH is nearly 3, whereas the aim should be 1 or below and some need it suppressed. They believe wrongly that we will have heart attacks or osteo if TSH is suppressed but why then would cancer patients be given suppressed doses? These are rumours I believe and I am not medically qualified.
I really do not know what sort of education these Endocrinologists get but it is certainly not 'adequate' to treat people who have a dysfunction of their thyroid gland.
When you post results you have to put the ranges, the reason being that labs differ and it helps members give responses.
They rarely check FT4 and FT3 and if we're not too well they should do so and I'll give a link and you can read the reason for this. On looking at your results:-
TSH nearly 3 - too high if diagnosed and on levo. T4 and T3 could be higher but best of all would be the Free T4 and Free T3 to be tested but I suppose they are saving money.

The aim is no clinical symptoms:-

Once upon a time - before blood tests and levothyroxine were introduced - usual doses of NDT were around 200 to 400mcg.
Thank you for your reply I agree the endos don’t seem to know much about thyroid! And this is private!
Private often turns out very disappointing when we have been really looking forward to have a positive consultation and one who will make you well.
I agree but the nhs and my gp were so bad I had to try something else, but through you guys I’m learning a lot!
All of us on this forum, I'm sure know far more than the 'specialists'. They've not been trained in clinical symptoms and know none. Many of our members have read and learned and absorbed information that enabled them to recover their own health and many now source their own hormones.
Read and learn is the best thing we can do because it isn't forthcoming from those whom we expect.
Without this site I would have been lost. Thankfully through all the help I received I know now when I have a hashis flare and what to do about it.
