I've tried taking WP Thyroid sublingually for a while, taking 1/2 a grain every four hours and 2 grains total. I feel miserable and I know that the manufacturer recommends that this natural dedicated thyroid be taken in the am with water. I've tried that now a few mornings at approx 1.5 grains and then a few 1/4 grains later sublingually, and it might be working better. I'm hopeful that maybe I can take all of the NDT in the am. My question is whether anyone has also made this change from sublingual to swallow in am with water, and also whether the same dose worked. Or did one have to lower or increase the dose? Also, are there NDT users who do take a majority of the thyroid in the am with water and then a little later sublingually?

Sublingual vs Swallow in am w Water
Whoever suggested sublingual for taking thyroid hormones are very, very wrong.
The molecules in thyroid hormones are too large to be absorbed through the tongue, so we should swallow tablets with one full glass of water and wait about an hour before eating.
Just take one dose per day. It is a bind trying to take split doses throughout the day: making sure our stomach is empty and carrying pills around.
I know there is some fashionable talk about splitting doses but how then can we ever reach a dose which makes us well. Usually we start on a dose, then every week or two add a 1/4 tablet until we feel better. Taking pulse/temp before beginning and if either goes to high/fast drop to previous dose.
Jmay88,
The T4 and T3 molecules in NDT are too large to be absorbed sublingually. NDT tablets are designed to be swallowed with water and absorbed via the gut. Why are you making it so complicated? Just divide your dose into 1 or 2 doses and swallow with water.
