Newbie, previous endo put me on T3 added to my levothyroxine since I don't convert T4 to T3, current endo says I don't need T3 and symptoms are not low thyroid. List below
Constipation
Feeling cold
Cold hands and feet
Goitre
Heavy periods
Weight gain
Tiredness
Hair thinning outer eyebrows
Cramps
Pins and needles
So no idea where I now stand. Taking 100mcg levothyroxine and diagnosed hypothyroid 2013.
Thanks
TSH 1.50 (0.2 - 4.2)
Free T4 16.1 (12.0 - 22.0)
Free T3 3.7 (3.1 - 6.8)

yes my thoughts exactly. I came in to the appointment and he had a right go at me about how I was overmedicated etc and he took me straight off the T3. I felt like I was being punished!
If we have a clinical need for T3, they are not supposed to withdraw it from us.
Go to the Pinned Posts on the right-hand column re the T3#Campaign being run by Thyroiduk.org.uk and sign the Petition. Also make an appointment to see your local MP and tell him you have a requirement for T3 as you cannot convert T4 and it is T4 which you are taking at present and tell him in order to feel better both your Free T4 and Free T3 have to be towards the top of the range and yours is at the bottom. He can phone Lyn Mynott at TUK for confirmation that some of us have a clinical need for T3.
Your dose is too low and you'd be better looking after your thyroid health yourself and source your own T3 although due to the Guidelines being changed and removing T3 from many people there be be a difficulty sourcing it at present.
I tried to press my case to him about why I would need T3 saying it's kept me in work and helped me feel better and he said he doesn't think T3 helped with any of that. He asked me if I got the T3 off the internet and I said no from a previous endo in this hospital. His answer was until there is written clinical evidence T3 works he will not prescribe it to me
If you can bear to hang on on current dose until blood test, this will prove a point (as no doubt will be dire)
Also ask for thyroid antibodies to be tested as well as vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. All are likely too low. Then thyroid hormones can not work
If you can't get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after.
Can you see the previous endo either via a NHS or privately. A prescription for T3 either private one or NHS makes sourcing easier. But if no prescription it's still possible
But up a post asking for T3 supplier info by private message
If you have raised antibodies this is Hashimoto's , (also known as autoimmune thyroid disease). About 90% of hypothyroidism in UK is due to Hashimoto's.
Great film definitely shows why just testing TSH is inadequate
All I can say to that is the endo that said this result was negative for Hashimoto's either needs to go back to med school or Specsavers
If it was same one that told you you didn't need T3 obviously has absolutely no idea about thyroid disease (probably a diabetes "specialist")
Yes this result is definitely Hashimoto's
With Hashimoto's, leaky gut causes hidden food intolerances, most common by far is gluten. Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms. Very, very many of us here find it really helps and can slowly lower antibodies.
