Newbie--Ok to take NDT & T3 together at the same time?

I have Hashimoto's & use NatureThroid & T3. Is it ok to take these together in the morning? If beneficial to take separately, how much time between doses?

Thank you for guidance.

Hello… I am currently taking 65 mg or one grain of WP thyroid which is an NDT, I am also taking 15 µg of Cytomel I suspect that I am a poor converter of T4 into T3 getting that tested soon. Personally I take my NDT early in the morning and then I take all 15 µg of the Cytomel around 2pm. I have to eat they told me I have hypoglycemia I struggle so much as it is with every little thing I cannot space my meds out all throughout the day and have an empty stomach and have full stomach for supplements etc. it's too complicated I can't be worrying about what to Pop next every single hour of the day. Others much more knowledgeable will be along shortly I am a pretty much knew be myself joined of July 17 but not functioning well enough to learn everything that I've been reading but have definitely made progress this site has changed my life. 🦋🌸

Thanks, Jill. I'm also a poor converter. My rT3 is consistently high, over 20. Agree it's complicated spacing everything. Wish a transdermal patch would be developed.

If we are poor converters do we need to switch to T3 only?

My doctor said the cytomel(T3) has a short life so cut the tablet in half and take 12 hours apart. You can take Cytomel with food ( unlike your thyroid supplement)

Thanks, Skylane. Do you know if there are disadvantages to taking them together? T3 is 37.5 mcg (1.5 tabs).

PS--I didn't know Cytomel's ok with food--thanks.

Sorry to ask you where can you get WP thyroid ? Thank you

hi Ari3, I’m in USA ... and the factory was closed down for awhile and last I checked they still don’t have it at my usual pharmarcy. they have stated on their website (RLC labs i think it’s called) that it will eventually be available for purchase. For now most seem to be using Naturethroid which is by the same company and is back in stock again here.

I know there are ways to get NDT in the UK but I’m not sure about how to get those two which are made here.

Ask around.. good luck!!

If we are up for converters do we need to switch to T3 only?

I've considered T3 only, but wonder about not having T1 & T2 in NDT. Maybe someone here can answer that, or what the lowest NDT dose that would still supply adequate T1 & T2.

Hi G2G2 just read your post and replies etc this is exactly what I want to do. Take a small amount of NDT as well as T3 and would like to know what amount of NDT would be adequate for a good dose of T1 and T2. I am on NDT worked my way up through all the doses and still not well at all. I know that if I cannot improve my meds soon I will have a stroke, I can feel it and getting the symptoms, numbness on the left side of my face, and tingling and numbness in my left arm. I know there are many of you who are soooo poorly too and it makes me so angry that we have to suffer like this. So I need to source some T3 quickly and someone here has PM me so here's hoping. going to get RT3 and antibodies test done.

Just wanted to let you know that I 'm thinking of you and hoping that you will all GET BETTER😊

So sorry to hear you fear you'll have a stroke. Getting better with tragically little medical help is an uphill battle.

I hope you get feeling better soon as well. It is very scary isn't it, when you have to fight with everything you've got to get some help for your condition. I am also very afraid that my heart has been suffering all this time needlessly and I'm positive my brain has, etc. I hope we all get to speak again in the future with much improvement in our lives! 🌷🌷🌷

I take mine together, first thing with water. I add a pinch of asorbic acid to my water, when I remember.

I've read some posts that some people like to split their dose. It's whatever works best for you, as long as you make sure not to take anything that reduces the efficacy of the medication, before or after.

I have just added half grain ndt to my 37mcg t3. I take T3 at 6am sublingually so I can have coffee & breakfast. I take next dose t3 8 hours later (always sublingually ). And I take my ndt just before bed (another 8 hours later) with a little t3. The body need most thyroid hormone at night that is why I'm taking most before bed. It doesn't affect my sleep. It's fine to take T3 and ndt together. I'm a poor converter so will likely need t3 always. If digestive system not 100% it's best to take thyroid meds sublingually. My ndt is hard so I Suck and chew it up really well. Hope this helps.
