Iron blood test advice

Hi all, I've ordered an iron status check as I have low ferritin levels but want to be sure that the rest of my iron levels are also low. It will look at transferrin, ferritin, serum iron and the ratios.

I'd like some advice on whether I should stop supplementing iron before I do it and also whether it can be affected by doing it during my period?

It's said to leave off iron supplements for a few days before testing, if it was me I'd be leaving them off for about 5 days. Not sure about periods affecting the results.
