New results. Any advice please?

Hi there,

I've had my results from Medicheck come through today. Be grateful if you'd have a look and give me your thoughts and in particular on the T4/T3 results please.

I've been on low dose NDT for the last month or so. Only 1/4 grain am and pm. I am trying to get it higher but really conscious of insomnia hitting again, so I am going super slow.

I generally feel okay apart from achy bones which I know is my low Vit D.

T3 looks low to me?

Thanks very much

M

Yes, FT4 and FT3 are low so you're right to want to increase the dose. You might find it's easier when your vitamin D is higher. How much are you supplementing? Your folate could do with a bit of help. Mid range would be better.

Were these your first antibodies tests? They are a little raised confirming you have autoimmune thyroid disease otherwise known as Hashimotos. Have you read all the information on here and on Thyroid UK website about Hashimotos?

Hi

I take vit d 5000mg daily with k2.

I know I'm hashi's and am gluten free.

Thanks for replying.

Hi - folate, ferritin and vit d all need supplemented. Yes you are undermedicated but with those nutrient deficiencies you may struggle to raise your ndt dose as t3 may well cause issues.

I presume you are supplementing B12? The active B12 level is very high - if you aren't supplementing then suggest you see GP. If you are supplementing then suggest that you look for something that isn't very high dose (2-50mcg) - high dose oral (1000mcg) would only be needed if you had a problem absorbing B12 from your food.

Do you also take magnesium. Recommended when taking vitamin D. Plus with Hashimoto's and gluten intolerance magnesium is often low

Take 4 (or ideally 6 hours) away from Levo.

Calm vitality magnesium powder is cheap and easy to use

Or use magnesium skin spray or flakes in bath are options too

Vitamin B complex if taking B12 too

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
