Make an appointment and ask your doctor to test for thyroid antibodies and vitamins. Failing that send for a private bloodtest through an online laboratory. If in the UK ,Thyroid UK's website lists reliable ones.
Sorry to hear how poorly you feel. And so sick and tired. And tired of being sick.
Were these blood tests all done in June?
Do you have the results with full details - normal range in brackets and any comments made?
Were you started on 50mcg of Levothyroxine in June and then increased to 75mcg in the last few weeks? Do you have results of your second lot of blood tests?
You could go back to GP at any time and ask for blood tests to check your nutrients levels of
Vitamin D
B12
Folate and
Ferritin
It might help if you write a list of all your symptoms to take to show GP. When I feel unwell I usually forget something by the time I get in to see the doctor.
I know it is not easy to keep going back to the GP when feeling so unwell. It seems to take many visits to get anywhere - but best to keep going back.
Is GP is treating you for your Hypothyroidism or are you seeing an Endocrinologist?
Do you have any stomach problems?
You could consider asking your GP to refer you to ENT Specialist with your symptoms of night time burning pain in throat.
Folks. Thank you for advices. I will check my results and I will put it here soon. Antibodies GP checked... but not witamins. I will go and ask. I must write on the paper 😁😁😁😁 because my memory is not that good 😁. I aked GP for referral letter but she didnt wanted for thyroid 😑
Every night i have burning pain in my throat. I started with 50mg levo but now Im taking 75. I noticed that after some food Im feeling worse (cheddar cheese, bread). Trying to eat more organic if I can
Is the burning pain also in the back of throat? Could it be from stomach acid do you think?
I had this and saw ENT Specialist, who successfully treated it. Do you have any digestive problems for example:
Difficulty in swallowing
Stomach pain
Bloating
Sluggish bowels or
Constipation ?
It might be best to avoid foods such as cheese, white bread and strong coffee for now.
Drinking lots of water or diluted drinks such as squash, decaf tea or decaf coffee and eating fresh fruits and well cooked root veg and potatoes should help.
I had sharp hot pains in throat and pain when singing. ENT did a nasendoscope and found acid damage to the Arytenoids. I did not know I have a hernia back then. I also had a Barium Swallow test and this revealed a Posterior Prominence on the Cricopharyngeus as well as a small sliding hiatus hernia.
This all happened before I was diagnosed Hashi's & Hypothyroidism which were the root cause of all my problems.
Do you take levothyroxine with one full glass of water and wait about an hour before eating?
Usually if hypothyroidism, everything slows down - even digestion - most members take a digestive enzyme with meals, particularly those containing protein.
There is Betaine with Pepsin, Digestive Enzymes or a good Apple Cider Vinegar (mixed with water or juice). This provides the acids needed by our stomach to dissolve protein/food.
Many here go gluten free to help reduce antibodies. Perhaps the brand of Levo you are on is not a good one for you? There are other brands that you can search out..? 🤔 I'm not in the UK so unfamiliar with brand options as yet.
But I did just find this older post that discusses the different brands available so do read thru!
