Hi, I have just received my daughters blood test results. She has suffered for a while with stomach ache and constipation,so the doctor suggested she had bloods taken. I asked for thyroid bloods on top as it runs in the family. The only things that stand out to me is her tsh which is 2.5 (0.35-5.50) I know I feel crap when my tsh is this high. I was wondering if the ranges are any different for children.
And Eosinophil count 0.7 10*9/L(0.0-0.4) which is highlighted in bold "high" I don't know what this is.
IGA lev <0.5 ku/L (0.0-14.9)
She gets stomach ache most days and has trouble going to sleep and is quite an anxious child, she developed ticks a few years ago.I am worried that she might be hypo but I know the doctor will say she's alright as it's in range
Thanks in advance

TSH in children and adolescents is often higher than that in adults. TSH 2.5 doesn't indicate your daughter has primary hypothyroidism but TSH only testing does not exclude secondary hypothyroidism. For that you would need FT4 to be tested too.
Raised eosinophils is a sign of allergy, it is the white blood cell that is mobolised during an allergic reaction. Does your daughter have hay Fever? Or allergic reaction to animals and pets? If so that is probably the answer.
Oh right thanks, but no she doesn't have any allergies we have a dog and she doesn't suffer with hay fever. I'll ask the doctor when we next visit. Mummy bear panic has now been calmed😂I just dont want her to suffer like I have
I had similar problems as a child ~ constipation is annoying and can be very painful and distressing and add to her anxiety ~ she will no doubt grow up to be a sensitive and kind person ~ as I did! lol!! I don't know how you address the constipation problem but have you tried Linusit Golden Linseed? No good on its own ~ tastes of nothing to me and goes kind of slimy when you keep it in your mouth too long, but it's that sliminess that does the trick once ingested ~ I put mine into yoghurt and it's fine like that. Maybe you could make some breakfast bars and disguise them that way ~ they're a bit like sesame seeds. Full of omega 3 fatty acids too ~ most fibre I find is too rough for little stomachs, but golden linseed isn't. You may already use it, but if not, it may help. I wouldn't worry about her suffering like you because you have obviously got your eye on the ball and you've got this forum to help. I think the mummy bear panic is great ~ AKA ~ being a good mother! I wish you both well x
PS I used to get little 'mini allergies' they never amounted to anything and they were always short-lived ~ I believe (I don't have evidence) that they were caused by being a bit over anxious about things ~ if that's what's happened they'll pass really quickly ~ I'm sure she is in good hands and will be fine x
Aw thanks for your kind reply, I just know she's not right and as a parent is fustrating to see her suffer and not being able to fix it. She's such a lovely little thing ,she hardly complains.I will try what you suggested and see if it helps thanks x
You're welcome ~ the most frustrating part is realising the complete inadequacies of the GP's when you go for help ~ they never seem to examine patients properly anymore ~ even children ~ obsessed with bloody ranges and averages! The skills they once had have been lost somewhere along the line ~ they're just foot soldiers for pharmaceutical companies now. Ask him to do a stool sample if you don't get anywhere with the other tests ~ there may be something irritating her bowels ~ keep on at them! Trouble is, you'll more than likely be labelled as 'a neurotic mother!' But who cares? You know her better than anybody and if you think she's not right ~ she's not right! Don't let them talk you down or put you off being persistent. Good luck! x
