I have a choice to make between two practitioners to treat my Hashimotos. One prescribes Thyroid S. The other Naturethyroid. Please could anyone taking either of those NDT's or anyone having had experience with them advise me on the pros and cons. I currently take Armour but am keen to switch practitioners.
Also, are there any T4 and T3 formulations which are dairy and gluten free?
Thank you so much.

If you do an online search, you will find hundreds of patients happy with Thyroid-S. There are three brands of Thai NDT (Thyroid-S, Thiroyd, and TR) and they all seem popular with US and European thyroid patients. I have been on Thyroid-S for the past couple of years and it works better for me than both Erfa and Armour (from Canada and the US respectively). I have never had any reason to question the quality or consistency of Thyroid-S.
Thyroid-S is a Thai brand of NDT and cannot be prescribed; it's available online only as a supplement.
Are you not doing well on Armour? I have not tried Naturethroid, but many reviews seem to suggest it works pretty much like Armour, so chances are if you don't like Armour, you won't like NT either. It seems to have been reformulated in the same way Armour was a few years ago (more cellulose added).
I am on Thyroid-S and like it a lot. It's the best NDT I have tried so far, and I have tried both Armour and Erfa. Erfa, as far as I know, is dairy and gluten free, as is WP Thyroid from the US.
I'm afraid it's pretty much trial and error when it comes to finding the right NDT for you...
The practitioner who prescribes NatureThroid could also prescribe Armour if you prefer to stick with Armour.
Thyroid-S isn't a prescription med. If the other practitioner 'prescribes' Thyroid-S s/he is simply buying Thyroid-S from Sriprasit in Thailand and selling it to you. You can buy Thyroid-S online without prescription from Thailand.
Thyroid-S is one brand of NDT (porcine thyroid), just like Armour and Naturethroid and several others. There is no law against combining it with T4. Some people do well on NDT only. Others need to add some synthetic T4 or T3 to it, or even both. It's all about how you feel, and where you need your free Ts to be when optimally treated and symptom free.
Been on thyroid s for years , damn good stuff as far as I am concerned - god bless the Thais for making so many westerners well again.
Pro's are it works for me . Cons - just have regular blood test and go easy with it - you can get tempted to chase symptoms the wrong way once you see improvement and get in a muddle. sometimes less is more and give it time to work. Best of luck.
